I must admit that my mind often works that way too and can go off in all directions...

Yes, so let's say the lady is a ghost, perhaps an ancestor, who acts as a guardian angel. Why is she there? I think it has something to do with the man who is rowing the boat on the lake....

As for the second picture, I find it a rather peaceful, lovely image, but I could see playing with it in this way and totally taking it in a new direction. Especially as the water becomes darker and the comforting light begins to fade...

I just had the strangest thought.

Q wrote that she was about to be possessed, right?

But what if she already is and what we're seeing is what she's seeing in her mind's eye on a constant loop while the dark spirit controls and inhabits her body? This scene is from her past and actually happened. It's her happy place, a way out of hell, except... well...

It's like being caught in a dream where one could argue the house represents her physical body which is haunted, the place she can't get back to? Every time she tries, the water darkens, the light turns to darkness, and the boat capsizes... and the loop begins again.

So, how does one break the loop?

And why was she the target for possession in the first place?

(Yeah, I'm totally going to the wild and weird place now. Thanks Q. ;)
