I've been following a thread on a collectible figurines forum about a change a company has made to an upcoming release. Hot Toys, a Hong Kong based, toy manufacturer, are releasing a high end line of Star Wars statues. Last year, I pre-ordered the Han Solo figurine, based on some gorgeous images at their site but they've just leaked some pictures of his revised head sculpt.

In a word, it looks terrible. I already have it on pre-order but I'm almost - almost - thinking of cancelling it.

$270 shipped Quentin. I really much prefer the first iteration which I feel is closer to Harrison Ford's likeness than the second. I'd have to see some more shots. But, yeah, I'm pretty disappointed.

So I'm lying in bed on a Sunday morning with a killer head cold. It's one of those ones that sits in your sinuses and your throat and makes you feel miserable...although I'm not too miserable. I just can't breathe.

Big week at the hospital this week. I had two Paediatric cases who underwent a new kind of spinal surgery using a new kind of alloy in their instrumentation. It didn't change the after care that much but we have to keep an eye on their blood work for a period of time to ensure that the new alloy doesn't leech into their circulatory system.

It's fascinating stuff...for me anyway.
