Nova Hernandez | 4 comments If you think you might like a historical supernatural series, check out the Gemma Doyle series by Libba Bray. Strong female characters with a supernatural element set in Victorian England.

Not entirely sure where I suggested slavery books, but now that you mention it - the first book of the Kushiel series does have our MC put into some awful slavery situations that she does indeed free herself from; sounds like you might really love those books. Oh, I should also mention that they're not just sex, they include a lot of BDSM, which isn't my taste, but our main character's "power" I guess you could call it, is that she is God-touched to experience pain as pleasure in a way that is beyond normal humans. This leads to some pretty graphic situations, as you can imagine. But still, amazing books.

Also, as for the incubus/succubus characters in the Sebastian/Belladonna books, though the main character in Sebastian is an incubus, he is a generally unwilling one and his story is about finding a genuine attachment with love interest. He's a very interesting character, in my opinion, a bad good guy. Still might be worth a read, but up to you. :)

That sounds like a fun mix of genres! I will be adding! Thanks!

I will ponder the Kushiel series more because it has tantalizing aspects. If it's a special, as in unusual, power that the heroine possesses, please don't spoil it for me (to le public)! :P :) I have read of a similar power more than once before but I'm getting the feeling this one will be more complex/intense and I haven't made up my mind whether I want to venture down its more serious path.

I realize I'm very particular, sorry people of the public!

Mmm... Sebastian sounds adorable, actually. I have yet to read a good storyline for the plot with an unwilling succubus or incubus. I will definitely pick this up. Thanks!

Cynthia (cynnich) | 38 comments I would recommend 2 other series by Anne Bishop. First is the Black Jewels which you can start with the Black Jewels trilogy. There are several strong women in this series. The second are the Tir Alainn Books. Both are enjoyable but some of the books are very light on the romance aspect.
