I remember that the first chapter started with the boy about to ride his bike down a big hill, later in the story he travels to another world and they think that his watch is magic due to the fact that it has a light even though it is just a normal watch. I remember that he had to stop a monster from being revived. SPOILERS(It ends up being revived) One of the things I remember is that it had a food that was honey and shaved ice on top of a mint leaf.

I read this book around 2012-2014

It was more of a fantasy world, and they didn't have any technology that is why his watch was seen as a magical devicce

It starts with a boy (around age 12-13) riding his bike down a big hill, and later he goes with some other children to a kind-of alternate world. There isn't much working technology.
