Happy Thursday, everyone! I hope your week is going well and that your weekend plans are full of relaxing and reading. I thought we could check in on those goals as we move into the weekend.

A few questions for you:
What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
What is your favorite book so far?
How's your team and individual challenges going?
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?

Now is also a great time to go in and update your Individual Tracking and the Community Spreadsheet with your reading progress!

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon? Work, getting ready for vacation and getting ready for my bathroom remodels starting next week
What is your favorite book so far? Recursion
How's your team and individual challenges going? Decided not to do the individual challenge this time so I could focus on the group challenge. The group is doing well.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I finished reading Recursion. I read a graphic novel - The Handmaid's Tale: The Graphic Novel. I listened to an audio Life Will Be the Death of Me: . . . and You Too! and I'm halfway through Artemis
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I want to finish Artemis and read Where the Sidewalk Ends and also finish The Ones That Got Away. It should be doable.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Just my own lack of focus and inability to sleep on a normal schedule. It's hard to read when I just want to take a nap.

What is your favorite book so far?
Embers of War

How's your team and individual challenges going?
My individual challenge is going ok. I don't think I will finish my whole tbr but it's still been fun.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I finished two books that I had started prior to the readathon, and have read two others since then for a total of 567 pages.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I want to finish three more books but I don't think that is going to happen. One is a graphic novel and the other two are each over 250 pages, so maybe. We will see.

Read 2,684 pages and completed 9 books
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish more books to help team finish questions

What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Distraction of spending so much time on GR, including this group!

What is your favorite book so far?
#NeverAgain: A New Generation Draws the Line, I got this mainly to support the Parkland group and because I was so impressed with young David Hogg. After listening to this short book, I am even more impressed. He struggled with dyslexia and some other challenges growing up but made himself into the kind of person who was able to lead in a crisis.

How's your team and individual challenges going? I am getting through a number of short books, which is helping by 2021 challenge & summer challenge. My team is doing great, yay, Ice Pops!

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I will have to check, I have a good memory for words and no memory for numbers - ok - 1154 pages & 6 books finished

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish the longer book I am on now and read a couple more short ones.

Kathy E | 3333 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Just lethargy and messing around on Goodreads and my spreadsheets.

What is your favorite book so far?
Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeanette Winterson. Can't wait to read her other books.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Team Fudgesicles is doing great! I have one bingo on my Individual challenge.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I've read 6 books and 1,124 pages

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish one of my longer books and hopefully a few more short ones. I have a graphic novel and a short book of essays left.

Work and some personal issues :/
What is your favorite book so far?
I only finished Tempted but am partially through Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and enjoying it so far.
How's your team and individual challenges going?
Im not doing the individual challenge but the Team Sherbets is almost done with our first round!
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I finished one book and partway through a second.
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
Finish the book im on and see how far i can get in another one.

message 8: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 245 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
The only real distraction was researching for the prompts in the current poll. Otherwise, I actually had fewer distractions than usual because I had time off work Monday/Tuesday

What is your favorite book so far?
Both Normal People and A Mortal Song were 4 stars for me.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
I decided not to do any challenges this go round. Just trying to read as much as I can.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
As of yesterday (Wednesday) I finished 3 books and read 960 pages, which is a lot for me for only being half-way done, so I'm pretty happy about that.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I'm currently reading The Air You Breathe and Lord of the Flies, so I hope to finish both of those by the end of the read-a-thon.

Bana AZ (anabana_a) | 836 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Work and other responsibilities. But I already factored those in when I set a goal of pages to read for this 'thon.

What is your favorite book so far?
To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers - 5 stars. It's beautiful.

How's your team and individual challenges going?
The team challenge is doing great! We're one question away from finishing the 1st round. Go FUDGESICLES!
I'm not doing the individual challenge.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I've finished 3 books so far.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
To finish 2 more books.

Icepops have finished the first sheet of 45 prompts - without using any wild cards!

message 11: by Rose (new)

Rose | 52 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon? My toddler skipped a nap several days this week, which definitely threw me off -- that's my usual reading time. I also was slogging through an ARC that was just not doing it for me, which slowed me way down.

What is your favorite book so far?
Ninth House! I can't believe I put it off for so long. Amazing!

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Go Team Sherberts! It's going well -- we're onto the second round! I'm only halfway doing the individual challenge, so it's going fine.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?

Finished that niggling ARC and Ninth House, both of which were big goals for me. My first day page count was pretty high for me, which was really satisfying.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?

Finish A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor!

message 12: by SarahKat (new)

SarahKat What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
Just regular life stuff. Work has been busy, kids wanting attention. Nothing horrible.

What is your favorite book so far?
Probably The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

How's your team and individual challenges going?
I'm not doing an individual challenge but as Robin announced, Team Icepops finished the first round!

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I've finished 7 books since the read-a-thon started. 16 for the month of July! This month is turning out to be the best reading month of 2020 so far, which is all the more impressive since I just had a baby in April and my reading has been down a bit.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I stupidly started a rather long book ( Nine Perfect Strangers ) so my goal is just to get that one finished by Sunday.

message 13: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1585 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon? I wasn't prepared with enough books. One of the ones I thought I was going to read turned out to be blah. Now I need to find something but nothing is exciting me! I just downloaded 3 more books so hope one of them draws me in.

What is your favorite book so far? The Nickel Boys
How's your team and individual challenges going? Ok, would like to have had something to read last night so I would be further ahead.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I have read 3 books for the challenge.
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I would like to get 2 more books read.

Kendra | 2111 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
As life still goes on, I can't spend all my time reading, plus when I get over tired I have trouble focusing enough to read.
What is your favorite book so far?
I've been doing mostly rereads this week so far, and they've all been rereads of favs.
How's your team and individual challenges going?
Team snowcones is still on the first round, and my natural competitiveness makes that fact bother me a little, but this whole thin is just for fun, so I'm trying to not stress out about it. As for the individual challenge, I have one bingo so far.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I've read 5 books, which is slightly above average for me. I've been avoiding tough reads that might take me longer though.
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I want to have read 9 books by the end.

message 15: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3279 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon?
My own general lack of focus. I go into each day really wanting to read a lot, and end up wasting a ton of time online doing nothing.

What is your favorite book so far?
Yes No Maybe So tied with With the Fire on High

How's your team and individual challenges going?
Team challenge is going great! I really like the team game this time around. Individual challenge isn't going so well for me, but my goal is to just cross off as many as I can. I don't really care if I complete a line.

What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon?
I finished 4 books! And all of them were among my most anticipated books to pick up this year.

What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon?
I'd love to finish at least 2 more books!

message 16: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments What challenges and distractions have you faced this read-a-thon? Ms. Taylor Alison Swift. How am I ever going to finish this audiobook when I just want to listen to folklore all day?
What is your favorite book so far? Aside from the reread of Master and Commander, which I know I love already, that'd probably be A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians. It's not perfect, but it was perfectly made for me otherwise.
How's your team and individual challenges going? Both are going pretty well, though I keep reading <100 page books and then realizing I can't use them on the individual challenge, lol.
What have you accomplished so far in this read-a-thon? I've read...a lot of books........ahaha
What are your goals for the remainder of the read-a-thon? I'd love to finish the audiobook I've had going this whole time, and one more short one!
