I can understand him worrying about the fact that Sean is a ladies man who had a different woman every few weeks. He doesn't want to see his sister get hurt. But, Lucy is an adult and shouldn't have to explain her relationship to her brother. She's old enough to make her own decisions/mistakes.
I can see why Patrick was super protective of Lucy, but he had to let her make her own adult decisions. I think Sean was open with her and he knew he would not be his old self with her.
He was being a concerned brother who knew Sean's past, but I think he went about it the wrong way. He was angry and overstepped his boundaries.
I can understand Patrick's concern about Sean. He only has seen Sean love em and leave em and is concerned that he will treat Lucy the same way. Patrick doesn't want to see Lucy hurt in any way because he loves her and hurts for what happened to her. He expressed his feelings and didn't make Lucy choose between him and Sean, and he didn't put pressure on her.
He was being a big brother and unfortunately Sean was dating the sister of a man who knew his history. Patrick was more than justified to be concerned but he certainly could have been less hostile. He was honest with Sean but only after carrying a serious attitude for a few days.
Sean has to prove himself to Patrick and the good thing is he knows it. Patrick will come around.

I understand why Patrick was concerned but I think he carried it a bit too far. Lucy is an adult and can make her own decisions.
I understand why Patrick was concerned too. I do think Patrick should have talked to Sean about his concerns. I'm not sure Sean would calm Patrick's reservations, but I think they could understand each other better. Instead of a level headed discussion, Patrick not only struck out at Sean, but Lucy. That was out of line and not the reaction of a loving brother.
