Hi Kath - thanks very much, both for the friend request and the steer towards Andrew. I'll certainly have a look at his work. My journey is just beginning, so advice such as yours is priceless!

I read a lot of crime novels so I look forward to reading yours if Andy when you publish. Meanwhile get stuck into the group, lol ways loads going on there.
Hi and welcome Luke. We also love the crime mystery genre, last year published our first, soon to publish the 2nd. Have just sent Friend request too. Enjoy - always lots going on!!
You welcome Luke, look forward to getting to know you. I also forgot to say that Kaths recommendation is well worth checking out. We are very lucky that we have a lot of very talented authors here. Hope you will soon be one of them.
Howdo folks, I joined a little while ago but forgot to introduce myself!I'm Les and I've been a Kindle owner since Christmas 2014 and absolutely love it. My favourite genres (in no particular order) are Fantasy, Thrillers and Science Fiction.
Thanks for the welcome folks. I've got 17 books still to read on my Kindle so I must make some inroads into them before I buy anymore, must stop looking at Kindle daily deals etc ;-)

7, more like.
Hi, my name is Meg. I've just self published my first book, and I'm a student on screenwriting MA at LCC. I like saying that because it knocks a good ten (or, ahem, 16) years off my age.I like crime, and thrillers, but I also just read my first ever romance book and it was much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I think I would read most genres really.

Hello All. My name is masoom and i am new to the goodreads, I want to read as much as i can and thats why I am heere.Hope to meet you all soon here.
Hi there :)I'm not new to Goodreads, but I'm new to all the community stuff. It seems as I get older I just want to read more and lately I've been finding it hard to find stuff I genuinely want to read, so have been going through books on my shelf which I've not yet read but might have bought years ago, and also trawling through the free books on the Kindle store (anyone else a bit shocked by the price of e-books lately?).
Hopefully I'll get some great recommendations from you lovely people. I do use another website for recommendations sometimes, but it's mainly American members so a lot of the literature is set in the US or is US written, and frankly, there are times when I'm just looking for a good old dark thriller set in London or Europe.
Looking forward to interacting with you all :D
Hi there, Laura-Ann. I can recommend some of the Indie books you'll see here on the New Releases thread. Once I got my kindle I was surprised and impressed by the quality of some of the independent stuff. They are also not priced at the rather cheeky levels that some of the traditional publishers go for.
Kath wrote: "Hi there, Laura-Ann. I can recommend some of the Indie books you'll see here on the New Releases thread. Once I got my kindle I was surprised and impressed by the quality of some of the independent..."Ooh, ta muchly for mentioning that thread, I shall have a little look shortly.
I've noticed quite a few book pages on the Kindle say things like "This price is set by the publisher". I know there has been a contract renegotiation between many publishers and Amazon but £9.99 for an e-book when the paperback in Waterstones might only be £5.99 is rather infuriating.
Laura Ann, have a look round and you'll soon have way too many books on your list and not enough time to read them all.Welcome newest groupites! It's great to have you with us!
Hi EveryoneMy name is Richard from Kent in the UK and been reading all my life. I have only recently discovered Goodreads and still finding my feet. I love reading science fiction, crime thrillers and action adventure novels.
I have been dabbling with writing most of my adult live and I published my first full length novel a couple of years ago. Currently finishing my second and would love to make some friends on this excellent site. Wish I had found this place so much sooner.
Hi Richard, I don't think it'll take too long for you to find a like-minded individual or two in the group ... just look in the Shiny Morning thread and see for yourself.
A hearty welcome to you, and to everyone else I seem to have missed in the last few days!
Thank you GJ, much appreciated. I will definitely use the Shiny Morning thread although truth be told I was never a morning person, always been a night owl.
Thanks for the welcome guys, and hello there Richard.Once I'm done with the other books I've lined up, from the synopsis on your profile, your book will be next! :)
Hey Richard, WelcomeI'm a newbie on here myself and I must say this is a lovely group of folks. And they are so welling to help and encourage. There is so much to explore. Like me it took you a while to get to it, but now that we are here we just need to find our way around, enjoy!
Hello to all new members, welcome ! Haven't been on here for a few days so it was lovely to find so many of you had joined since my last visit.Les, quite a few different genres that you enjoy. I used to read Fantasy all the time but now a days don't read quite so much of it.
Hope to see you all in the group and getting to know you better.
Hello everyone,I live in Las Vegas. I am a recreational poker player and a writer.
I am the author of the noir satire, "Bonjour Amigos" and if you are interested in a peek, there are some excerpts for your perusal posted on my Goodreads blog.
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
I am currently taking a break from my obsession with history, particularly Roman history and the early Christian church, to spend some serious time with the noir crime icons, Raymond Chandler, James M. Cain and Dashiell Hammett.
My classical fiction heroes are Borges, Kawabata, Herman Hesse, Thomas Mann and recently, Willa Cather has topped my Holy Trinity of American authors, Hemingway, Steinbeck and Faulkner.
I love Evelyn Waugh, C.S. Lewis and Wodehouse.
Besides Shakespeare, I love Bertolt Brecht, August Strindberg, Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams.
My favorite children's author is Tove Jansson - I am a Mumintroll!
My favorite beer is weihenstephaner lager. My favorite wine is most any riesling - I drink the whole bottle since I am not an engineer who has figured out how to reinsert a cork.
If I were offered a last meal before my execution it would be strawberries and vanilla ice cream - life is uncertain, eat dessert first!

Welcome aboard David
I'll drink to desert first too! Welcome. I have to say your taste in reading is not mine, but hey - it takes all sorts, but with you being Moomin you can't be all bad!!
I just say don't bother with the main course, I will have 2 helping of desert !Welcome aboard David, nice to meet you.
Hi All,Just joined Goodreads a short while ago and I'm finding my way round. Some pretty good groups on here. I like to read SciFi, some Fantasy, and humourous fiction, but will give most things a go if they tickle my interest. I listen to a lot of audio books as I drive a lot, so I challenge myself with genres outside of my comfort zone. That works well, and helped me uncover such delights like Joanne Harris's Chocolat, which I would never have read conventionally, but worked well in the car.
I'm a dad and granddad, and enjoying all that life has to offer.
Best to you all,
Dave.
