I'm a US author, but have been blessed with many UK readers. I also enjoy reading many UK authors, having read a few million books in my life (that is a mild exaggeration, but not by far). Both of my books are available on Amazon.UK and for free in any ereader format on Smashwords.com.
My website has more info and contact info. http://larryanimalgarner.com
I look forward to finding more UK authors to read!

Ha, Hi B J. I definitely won't be trying the bare backside test! Apart from my onions, all the other seeds are growing away indoors, shoved on windowsills wherever I can find a space. By the time it is warm enough to plant out, the house will look like a jungle.
Never mind sewing seeds, let's get back to cake ;) hello Lucy, Marie and Larry. You will soon see that you have a lot in common with us all especially in the light of cake Lucy, nothing nicer than a relaxing read and a bit of cake. You will soon get to know us all Marie, we are friendly bunch and love making new friends. Welcome to you all.
Thanks Anita. Oh yes, I agree that cake is an even better topic, especially if it comes served with coffee :) Now I just made myself hungry again - there's a reason I stay away from recipe books!
Hi, I'm a new member and a new Author, Barry C Cunningham. My new Book is a SciFi Novel - Antigravity Drive, The Diary of an Invention
Very Brief Synopsis -
Richard Charles had a dream, a strange dream, one that made him think that things that seemed impossible just might, with a following wind and a cheese sandwich, be possible. With a bit of research, some astute e-baying and a bit of application, you never know he could 'clean up', make a fortune, win a Nobel Prize. He decided to record everything in a diary on his beloved Kindle.
This book is written as a diary, it details the exploits of a forty something British man, married with a teenage son. He is convinced he has dreamed how to make an Antigravity Drive and sets out to build it in his garage. The story takes all manner of unexpected twists and turns, comedic and otherwise.
A Quick Bio--
I am 66 and a retired chemist, not working in a shop (that would be a pharmacist), but someone who has spent his career immersed in the world of Industrial Laboratories and Product Development. He has been an active Rotarian for many years with The Rotary Club of Hull Kingston. He lives in the East Riding of Yorkshire, with his wife, Diane, two toy poodles, Tessie and Frankie, a tortoise named Daisy-May and several beautiful Koi Carp. He is a life-long Science Fiction fan, which is just one of his many interests and passions, these include exploring the world of antiques and collectables, collecting and listening to music (He still buys vinyl, new and old and is developing an extensive 78rpm record collection). This is his first book, but has many more ideas, which may or may not come to fruition.
I'm looking forward to it already - and I've still got crumbs from the coffee & walnut in my beard. Saving them for later.

Hi, I've only just began to understand what an amazing site Goodreads is, so just beginning to get active. I'm a traveler currently in Mexico teaching English to Mexicans and seeking to become fluent in Spanish. I'm an avid reader, I'm a published author of one book but I'm currently revising it so I'll wait until I've finished it again before I create an author profile and I have three more books in the pipeline. I'm also a freelance editor, proofreader and ghostwriter. it's great to be here to learn as much as possible
Welcome Maha. You're in the gang now, Steve. Join in with some of the threads. One or two are even about books. ;)
Welcome Steve, Wulan and Maha. Goodreads is a great site - I'm sure you will all enjoy the interaction here.

Hi I'm Kelly. I love crime stories, that's a bit different to good cop bad cop. With a three quarter hour rail commute into work each day, I get through a lot of books. Kindle is a god send. Maybe I can get some recommendations, or I'll tell you what I'm reading.
Hi Kelly, you will find lots of recommendations and we also enjoy hearing what everyone is reading so I'm sure you will feel right at home here. Nice to meet you.
Hello! My name is MK and I am a new author: just self-published my debut novel, Of Our Own Device, last month and am now trying/learning to promote it. It's a Cold War spy thriller and I will intro it to this group shortly -- in the relevant section :)
And yes, it's available of Amazon.co.uk : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Our-Own-Devi...
I used to be an avid reader, but lately has been flailing: I have a demanding day job, have been spending most of my free time on prepping the book for publishing, and now on promoting it. Sometimes I wonder when I will get my life back :)
I noted that people here want to know everything about new members -- I'll try to give a gist: I've told you who I'm. I like classic literature, literary fiction, thrillers, mystery, historical fiction, non-fiction etc.; not too keen on fantasy and chit-lit; used to like sci-fi as a teen. Oh, and I used to read (and write) fanfic!
I know there are more questions on the intro list, but I don't want to bore you. If you have more questions, please leave them on my author page and I will answer them ! :)

Hi. My name's Phill and I've just published my first novel, called Paradise Girl. Somebody said the title sounds like chick-lit or erotica. Actually it's neither (probably a pity from the point of view of sales!). I've had a Goodreads account for ages but never got into it. I'm trying now, and finding out how to join and join in with groups and discussions.

Ah, that's really for your spuds, BJ. Don't plant seed potatoes until the soil's warm. :)
