Welcome Jagriti and enjoy. I'm a bit of a foodie too - seemed to spend most yesterday in the kitchen in fact!

Jagriti (Abhinita) | 201 comments Thank you for the welcome L.A.

I already am!

So did you have anything special?

message 1767: by L.A. (new)

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments We certainly did! Old fashioned Pork Pies! I make them 4 at a time and the dicing of the meat takes ages! Two for the freezer and 2 to cook. With the proper old fashioned jelly they are amazing even if I do say it myself,

message 1768: by Jagriti (new)

Jagriti (Abhinita) | 201 comments Oooh! Sounds appetizing! And am sure it must be. Not a big pork fan myself! ...Traditional recipes have a soul of their own. I normally substitute with something else!

Iryna Andriyevska (iryna_andriyevska) Hello Book Fans,

Here is my book:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXF5BJL

It's a story of love, family, tragedy full of philosophy and emotions. I promise this is something totally new. You've never read anything like this.

I understand, that it is not that easy to buy a book almost without any reviews. So, if you want to read it, just mail me at irynkaa88billy@ukr.net and I will send you a free sample.

I would really appreciate any reviews left here and on Amazon.

Hope to be heard.

Thanks,
Iryna

Jonathan Kent | 23 comments Hi there....

100% new to Goodreads so VERY daunted by the whole thing!!!

I live in Dorset and I can confirm that storm Doris has officially hit. I'm trying to work on my second novel and the wind is DEAFENING.....

Really looking forward to joining in the discussions...

message 1774: by L.A. (new)

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments Welcome Jonathon. Enjoy. I spent 2 years in Lyme Regis so I know that Dorset is a great place. Used to love standing on the stone and concrete breakwater and watching and listening to the waves pile in either side of me. Probably wasn't very sensible in hindsight, but amazing nevertheless!

Good luck with the writing.

message 1775: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Kent | 23 comments Thank you......

I live on Portland and can just about make out Lyme Regis (great fish & chips) on a clear day.

Today is not a clear day. Rain is horizontal!

message 1776: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Welcome, Jonathan. Don't be daunted by us - we're a load of softies. Usually!

message 1777: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Shuker (kathyshuker) Hi Jonathan. I live in Devon. I guess you've got the rain we had an hour or two ago. Horrendous. Sorry to say it's eased a bit here but still pretty unpleasant and very windy. Good luck with the writing. :)

message 1778: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Kent | 23 comments Thank you. It does seem to have eased a bit. But unfortunately that will mean stopping writing to take the dogs out...

Hi Jonathan. Welcome to Goodreads. I'm rather new here, too. I live in Bath, Somerset, and the rain here is also horizontal. lol

Thanks Chris, the rain does seem to have stopped, but the wind is picking up. I think tonight could be a 'howler'.

Love your phrase 'Inspirational buildup'. That's exactly how I feel when I have a bit of a plot breakthrough. Can keep you up all night - just need to get the ideas on the page.....

When I was very young I used to live in Shaftesbury (about 10 mins from Gillingham) and for about a year we lived in a thatched cottage in Gillingham. I remember my dad getting bitten by a mouse that he had tried to remove from the loft.....

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Patti (baconater) wrote: "Would you eat fish out of the Caspian?"

Nope. Can't you get safe fish in the shops there?

message 1791: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Very occasionally we'll see imported fish. At silly prices and has been thawed and refrozen a dozen times.

The 'British Pub' used to fly it in special but it's under local management now. They tried passing off local fish as imported for a while (at hugely inflated prices) but one of the staff let it slip that it was local fish.
None of the expats goes there anymore.

Hi Jo..."

An inspirational buildup needs lots of coffee (milk, no sugar) and a white canvas to go crazy on. I get my fix when the words are on the keyboard. Especially when the rain is pattering against the window.

And then there's that image of fish & chips that I keep scrolling up to with googly eyes.
