Welcome, Ferrel! I love your name. I don't think I've ever heard it before, but that may be because I'm an American.

Hi Mario! Welcome to the group!

It's wonderful that you are reading English books to improve your language skills. I struggle with German and Spanish, but I can't imagine reading my books in another language.

Hi Ferrel,
My books are all on Amazon's KDP program and they seem to do well. My publisher tells me it's hard to keep track of royalties because Amazon pays per page read, but the support you get from an entity like Amazon can't be beat. It's worth the effort. Just my two cents.

Hi Flo,
Yes, your systems for money and weight are very different from ours. I don't know how many 'stones' I weigh, and I'm happy that way. It's bad enough in pounds.

message 1357: by Jane (new)

Jane Jago Dawn. I reckon stones is better. Less in number.

Patti has the right of it.

But:

Grammar is there to be squidged if it suits one's purposes.

Less sounds less than fewer. So I went for less.

Hi Aled - downloaded your book - love the Tudor period. I notice you've got the book "to read" - don't you know what it's about? :-) lol

message 1375: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21819 comments T4bsF (Call me Flo) wrote: " love the Tudor period. ..."

it is one of our more fascinating periods.
However my daughter studied it so often and in such depth they almost managed to sicken her of it!

message 1376: by T4bsF (Call me Flo) (new)

T4bsF (Call me Flo) (time4bedsaidflorence) I don't think I could get sick of it Jim. I always live in the hope that I will find something out that I hadn't heard before.

message 1377: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21819 comments Have you read The Steel Bonnets: The Story of the Anglo-Scottish Border Reivers

Written by the author of the Flashman Books, it's a history rather than a novel, but is very readable

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8593 comments I've just read Fair Helen by a favourite author Andrew Greig, so that would follow on nicely

message 1379: by T4bsF (Call me Flo) (new)

T4bsF (Call me Flo) (time4bedsaidflorence) It does look interesting Jim - but I don't usually part with anything more than a fiver for a book - so I think I'll leave it on my wishlist until the price comes down a bit. :-)

message 1380: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21819 comments or buy the hardback for £2.52 plus postage :-)

message 1381: by T4bsF (Call me Flo) (new)

There's my gurl.

That damn Jim is always trying to force dead tree books on us.

I should smack him again. It's been a while and he's getting cocky.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments With a dead fish, of course.

message 1394: by Peter (new)

Peter (pdinuk) | 29 comments This thread looks a little more than introductions, but here goes. I'm Peter, I'm on my third Kindle (a Paperwhite) and I have a frighteningly large Kindle library, both nonfiction (history, international politics, biography) and fiction (often detective, spy etc).
Thanks, moderators, for the brilliant 'quick start' message, which other groups could learn from.

message 1395: by Anita (new)

Anita | 3313 comments Hello Peter, lovely to meet you. We are a happy group and welcome all new members, please feel free to pull up a chair and help yourself to coffee, if you are very lucky Patti will do you a bacon buttie, if she hasn't already eaten all the bacon !

message 1396: by L.A. (new)

L.A. Kent | 3925 comments Welcome Peter. Loads to do with loads of very different people..........some like bacon........some like it more...........some like fish ............ some like their fish wrapped in bacon...........enjoy!

message 1397: by Peter (new)

Peter (pdinuk) | 29 comments Just had breakfast, but thanks anyway.

My Kindle backlog is probably because I get the Daily Deal email and invest 99p in anything I like the look of, for future enjoyment. I probably only buy one or two a month, but they mount up.`

I'll pop over to the author section and do a quick post there, before I get down to work.

And yes; before you ask: lots of bacon rolls/baps/baguettes were consumed...
