Hi to all the newbies, I am a a recent one myself.Wow - chocolate bunny ears have no calories? Damn, I've been polishing off the whole thing, that's where I've been going wrong.
Oh and don't forget fudge.Didn't you hear Kelly that chocolate bunnies were all calorie free this year, eat away girl !
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Bunny ears contain no calories.Just saying."
So that's why Mother always taxed our Easter baskets by eating the ears of the bunnies the Easter Rabbit brought her five daughters. Now I understand it!
Lots of new people have arrived here while I've been busy doing other things. Hi all, and welcome to a great group.

Lol I love mad people because I'm one of them too xD
Hello there..I'm Paul, a Yorkshireman living in london.
I absolutely love reading and have since I can remember..Generally my reading is done on the tube to and fro work. A couple of years ago I succumbed to buying a kindle after a few years of being vehemently against them...well I'm glad I did, although missing the smell of books I have found my Kindle most excellent.
Currently I'm reading Shogun.
I have a varied taste in books ranging from History to Murakami to Easton Ellis to Welsh to Ellroy to Rynd. Anything that tickles my fancy I will read.
You will fit in very well Meow.Welcome Paul, quite a few of us Yorkshire folk in the group so you will feel right at home.

Phew - what a relief hopefully next year it'll be giant sized eggs that are calorie-free, she said in hope.

What I adore about Goodreads is remembering a book I loved but had forgotten all about! Am going to download Shogun right now and re-read.
Thanks for the reminder, Paul.

We're working on it Kelly
Has anybody ever posted a thread asking which books people like so much that they own them in both paper and Kindle versions? Is it a common thing to do? Or is it just eejits like me :-)

I don't think we have!
Go on and open one!
Hi, I'm Amber and I hail from Bournemouth (well, actually I originally hail from Nottingham via Llanelli, but that's another story). I work as a lecturer and I'm pretending to write a PhD, so you'd be forgiven for thinking I would have no time for reading.Well it seems I do. Anything from dog eared old memoirs to the latest hyped novel, and everything in between. I am proud to say I was an early adopter of the Kindle and have one of the original keyboard models. The letters have long since worn away. No, I'm not replacing it any time soon with one of those fancy paperwhite numbers.
Anyway, hi. I'm settling down with a cuppa and a trawl through this group. I may, or may not, pop up again soon.
Oh and one question that has been bugging me forever ...Why is it I can devour fiction at top speed on my Kindle, but really struggle with reading non-fiction? Anyone else find that?

I've seen work done which suggests that when reading an electronic document you do tend to 'skim' more than when reading paper.
With fiction this isn't going to be an issue because many people do tend to almost skim fiction anyway, but with non-fiction you'll struggle to cope

Hmm. Yes I recognise the 'skim' part :)
Maybe I should cultivate a little more patience then. I do always kick myself when I rush a good book, but when it is a real page-turner I can't help getting swept along.I shall endeavour to slow down a wee bit.
I guess it depends what you're reading. I've just re-read all the John Sandford Davenport books and they're serious page turners and very hard to put down. Then I moved on to PD James, and they're really quite different - much slower even though the stories are pretty good. All in all I prefer the page turners!!
Hi, am Angela from Uganda, am happy to be a member in this group. i want to read a book on Agricultural Product Prices by William Tomek and Kenneth Robinson the Fourth edition but unfortunately am denied access to it and i really need it for my masters research. Any assistance rendered will be greatly appreciated.Regards!
Welcome Angela.I spent three wonderful years in Uganda. It's a beautiful country.
I can't find the book you need on the Goodreads database. Can you give more details? Who is the publisher?
Could you contact the author(s) directly?
Hi Angela,Welcome.
I am pretty new here myself. It's a lovely bunch of people and a lot of the older threads and posts are good to have a wander through as well.

Hi All, I'm Rukia and live in London. I'm a reader mainly of fantasy fiction (and part time writer of YA fantasy fiction), and have just started up on GoodReads. So much is going on here that I'm still trying to orientate myself and figure out the rules :-) If anyone is interested in making new friends on goodreads, please let me know or add me! I'm looking forward to talking about all things bookish and about your writing, if you're a writer. Also, was anyone at the London Book Fair this year? It was my first and I absolutely loved it. Missed a few seminars I wanted to go to, especially the Amazon Kindle ones featuring Indie authors at Author HQ, so if anyone went and wants to catch up about those, please get in touch :-)
Best, Rukia
Hi, I've just come across your group and really liked what I saw. I've been a member of Goodreads for sometime now but never really invested a lot of time in it until now. I'm an author and I read booksthat invest in interesting and strong characters, of course the plots important but I love to get to know the characters. Anyway I'm glad to be here. Dougie.
Hi, Dougie. Welcome to the gang. It's a bit mad but we do all love our reading.Oh, and welcome to Rukia. People sneak in when I'm not looking! :)
Kath wrote: "Hi, Dougie. Welcome to the gang. It's a bit mad but we do all love our reading.Oh, and welcome to Rukia. People sneak in when I'm not looking! :)" Don't mention 'sneak' (it can easily be misinterpreted by Italians!!( Welcome Rukia and Dougie - enjoy!
