Hello AllMy name is Neil Carstairs, as an author most of my work is in the speculative fiction market. I've been around Goodreads for a while, mostly over in the Review Group, but thought I would dip my toe in the water in this group.
Hi :) I'm Kate, I mostly read horror and thrillers but have been using the Kindle app to expand my reading horizons.
Hi fellow readers. My name is Lindy and I am a reader of almost anything and everything in addition to being a creative writer (short stories, flash fiction, novels, etc). I live in the sunny south of England near the coast and I never tire of walking along the beach promenade and watching people enjoy themselves in the sand and sea. My favourite novels include 'We Need To Talk About Kevin', 'A Fine Balance', 'Wild Swans', Captain Correlli's Mandolin', 'Room', .... I am currently reading 'A God in Ruins' on my Kindle, 'In the Heart of the Sea' and 'The Color Purple' in paperback in addition to writing my second novel. In my previous life, I was a nurse/midwife in the NHS. I know you want to know what I drink and the answer if very little as I have a low tolerance - I've always said that I am on a natural high but I do write from my darker side so maybe it lurks well hidden. I look forward to conversing with you all about books, reading, etc. If you want to know more about me you can find me as a GoodRead's author (L. A. Berry)
Hi Lindy! Welcome to the gang. To get the most out of the group, scroll down the threads and see what conversation takes your fancy. Then chip in!

Welcome Lindy, sure you will find loads to interest you. Look forward to getting to know you better.

Hullo everyone. I'm Mike, from Australia but an Anglophile with special interest in British colonial history and writing set in "The Indies". I have a blog with a recurrent post on writers festivals in the Asia/Pacific regions - you can see it at mikecoppin.wordpress.com. I look forward to seeing what's happening with Kindling in Britain.
Welcome aboard, Mike. The Brits will be along to greet you once they've woken up. And had a cup of tea, of course. First things first, doncha know.
Hey I'm Rachel :) not new to goodreads just figured I need to be more active in the book groups I'm part of on here :) I'm a bookaholic and trying to read as many books this year as I can!
Hi Rachel. You could always start a thread in the group challenge area where some of us are recording what we are reading/reviewing ;-)
Hello from Rossendale, Lancs. As a young boy I haunted the local library and I've read and collected SF and Fantasy for many years. This has left me with a burgeoning paperback collection of over 1500 books.
Enough of the reading, I also write. Mostly in genre. I've an author page knocking about somewhere.
Favourite books. These change over the years but I have always had a soft spot for Philip K Dick's Galactic Pot-Healer
Gang. Hehehe. We need someone to choreograph us a dance number/knife fight.
Volunteers to knit us matching leather jackets? Kath can quilt them for extra warmth and Emzabubbles can cross stitch our gang insignia on the backs.
Welcome!

Philip K Dick's Mary and the Giant one of my all-time favourites.
Georgina wrote: "Philip K Dick's Mary and the Giant..."Never read that. My collecting days came to a halt in the 80s - It's likely I'd have picked it up if I'd spotted it in my various trawls of the local WH Smith, (not a bookshop but what do you expect in Burnley?)
Georgina wrote: "Never been to Burnley!"You've missed nothing (unless you're a follower of Championship football - the club's supporters have an excellent manager in Sean Dyche).
The valleys in and around Burnley have close to ¼ of a million popn - but no bookshop. 10 miles east into the Pennines, Hebden Bridge, popn 5,000 has 3! Work that out! Anyhow, it's no good griping if the business isn't there.
hi everyone, I'm Steve Higgins from Manchester, I'm a writer and blogger.Floating In Space: A novel set in a vanished world: Manchester 1977

Hi Steve, welcome. No trying to pinch our Kath back, we like her just where she is, in Yorkshire !
Look forward to getting to know you Steve.

You are most welcome Linda. You live in a beautiful place, I used to visit every year when I was younger. Angela Marsons novels are excellent. You must go on to read the next two in the series! I think they just get better and better, really looking forward to the next instalment. Please feel free to make it yourself at home, join in wherever you like.
Hello Linda! I agree with Anita - Angela Marsons gets better! have you tried David Staniforth's two psychological thrillers, Imperfect Strangers and Void? Very good - and he's a member here too.
