SOLVED. Childrens book about witches basically in an episode of the bachelor with the king. [s]

The book I'm looking for, I read in maybe the 4th grade. Its a short fictional fantasy where the king (or prince?) is holding a competition for all the witches in the world. Whosoever proves herself to be the most powerful witch will have the hand of the king. All the other witches are doing horrible nasty things in this competition. But there's one witch who doesn't fit in because she only does good magic. At the end, the king sees her do some powerful beautiful good magic and he takes her hand explaining that good magic is much more powerful and difficult than darker meaner magic. I've been wanting to reread this story because its one of the first times that a witch was put in a good light and I remember that being a comforting thought as a kid.
