?YA, Vampire helping teach humans to fight in a safe house during a vamp war?

I've read a fair amount of fiction, YA, and paranormal fiction, so don't know exactly what genre this one was in.
Don't remember when I read it--but within the last, oh, 20 years. I remember a male ooooolllllldddddd vampire and a young human woman, and there was some vamp war happening...
the good vampire man was teaching a group of humans and ?others about fighting skills in a safe house...one woman was an amazing archer. There was a scene where the human was lured into the woods by people who's van had broken down and they needed assistance?
Am I imagining this whole thing??
