The setting is England during the 1970s or 1980s. I read a LOT of Mills & Boon novels during the 1980s.
My memory of this book is that at the beginning the heroine is at her grandmother's funeral. The hero is also there. He follows her to talk to her about a family problem. It is raining. I don't remember is she has an umbrella, or if the hero offers her an umbrella.
The heroine has black hair and blue/violet eyes. She wore a lot of pastel coloured clothes including violet, blue, pink, which I was very impressed with as a young teenager, I thought the colours were beautiful. I remember thinking that the heroine was beautiful with her colouring and pretty pastel clothes.
The hero is a close friend or distant relative of the heroines family.
I also remember her being in a cottage style house, in the loungeroom, the hero goes there to see her and they have a conversation in the loungeroom. I don't remember whose house it is. It is a cold day.
I think it is winter or spring time due to the weather. It is often wet and cold, as it often is in England.
I don't remember if the heroine has a job, and I don't remember what type of work the hero does. Obviously he is rich, because all the heroes in Mills & Boon novels are rich.
I would be grateful for any help with finding this novel, I have been looking for 18 months.
