SOLVED. YA Anthology that includes a story called Green Ink, circa 1971. [s]

This book was sold through the bulletin distributed to schools (Scholastic?).
One story was about a girl with little self confidence until she gets a letter from a boy in green ink. I think her name was Pru/Prudence. At the end, her dad puts away a bottle of green ink.
Another was about a boy who in HS who worked at a garage and his dad took a good portion of his earnings each week which he resented. Until he graduated and his dad used the savings to help him buy a garage of his own.

Were these stories intended for teens or more for younger kids?

Best Short Shorts contains "The Secret in Green" by Mary Dirlam.

Found a review that describes it....

"The plot to the story was about a young girl who is new to a community and receives a letter from a secret admirer that is written in green ink. At the end of the story it is revealed to the reader that the father wrote the letter to strengthen his daughter's self confidence in feeling accepted by the community."
