Linda | 131 comments Carol, I did get the message to vote. I'm holding off on voting, though, since I don't have time in July to fit in another read. (and I still have to catch up on the Regency Buck read for this month...)

message 152: by Sabine (last edited May 21, 2015 01:04PM) (new)

Sabine | 11 comments I haven't got the message, but I have voted. :-)

message 153: by Louise Sparrow (new)

Louise Sparrow (louisex) | 460 comments According to my e-mails I got your message about 6 hours after you sent it! It made no difference though as I was at work and unable to vote :p I'll go look now!

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ | 363 comments I got it, Carol.

message 155: by Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ (last edited May 21, 2015 01:32PM) (new)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ @ Linda. I didn't vote till just now. I want to reread all 5 books so I wanted to think about it. Edit; & never feel any pressure!
@ Sabine awesome! Since apparently I either didn't invite myself or GR is glitchy I hope no one takes it personally! :D

message 156: by Karlyne (new)

Karlyne Landrum | 3895 comments I got it! It looks like there were quite a few votes a couple of hours ago?

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Louise Sparrow wrote: "According to my e-mails I got your message about 6 hours after you sent it! It made no difference though as I was at work and unable to vote :p I'll go look now!"

No rush Louise. I can understand everyone wanting to think! I've found this one the toughest yet!

Another group I'm in, the (experienced) moderator had all sorts of trouble putting a poll up this month. That's why I left the time zone thing alone.

message 158: by Karlyne (new)

Karlyne Landrum | 3895 comments I had trouble commenting on GR this morning. Maybe they've had troubles in general lately?

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ @ Tadiana - cool!

@ Karlyne. Yep! Lots of interest.

& since I'm the anal retentive type, I'll just remind everyone that the June read is An Infamous Army

message 160: by Linda (new)

Linda | 131 comments I got the e-mail at 2:52am PST, I'm not sure what the time difference is between Seattle and New Zealand.

I've read The Grand Sophy most recently, and I think I've read The Reluctant Widow, but if I have then it's been quite a few years.

And I think I've lost my copy...

Anne | 265 comments Just saw the message and went to vote! Any of the suggestions would be awesome :)

message 163: by HJ (new)

HJ | 948 comments I was able to press a button to view the results before I voted.

message 164: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear | 1638 comments The Toll-Gate is a good one. That was an unexpected surprise when I read it recently.

message 165: by Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ (last edited May 22, 2015 01:29PM) (new)

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ | 363 comments I read The Toll-Gate last year and thought it was very enjoyable. I probably won't be up for reading it again any time soon, but I've never read The Reluctant Widow, and that sounds like it could be fun. Since QNPB and I are in a minority with Sophy. :(

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ HJ wrote: "I was able to press a button to view the results before I voted."

I have no idea why I thought I would be able to see the results without pressing anything!

I've joined the Moderators' Group here, so hopefully I'll pick up some handy tips.

Next time I'm going to see if I can just select all for sending the poll. :)

& speaking of polls I did find some polls for favourite GH books - just not the one I was looking for which listed all the books GH wrote. I'll find them again & give them their own thread!

message 167: by Louise Sparrow (new)

Louise Sparrow (louisex) | 460 comments Tadiana ♕Part-Time Dictator♕ wrote: "...Since QNPB and I are in a minority with Sophy. :( "

I promise to vote for Sophy next time ;)

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ | 363 comments Lol--Thanks, Louise!

message 169: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 613 comments I do love Sophy, but The Reluctant Widow was my very first Heyer and is therefore a sentimental favorite.

message 170: by Louise Sparrow (new)

Louise Sparrow (louisex) | 460 comments Margaret wrote: "I do love Sophy, but The Reluctant Widow was my very first Heyer and is therefore a sentimental favorite."

It was the first one I read too

message 171: by Hana (new)

Hana | 652 comments Lots of great entries on the list the The Reluctant Widow was so much fun I can't resist.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ The poll has closed & The Reluctant Widow won! :)

I'll put the discussion threads up on the 1st of July.

message 176: by Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ (last edited Jun 19, 2015 11:39AM) (new)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & it's time to think about our August read.

Same deal as last time - I'll leave nominations open for a week or until we have 5 - whichever comes first.

The only mystery I own is A Blunt Instrument, so if any of the other mysteries is successful could the person nominating lead. Same if My Lord John or Charity Girl wins.

These are the ones we read in 2014, so IMO its too soon to reread;

2014 Cotillion
Frederica
Sylvester
Footsteps in the Dark (mystery)
The Nonesuch
The Unknown Ajax
Death in the Stocks (mystery)
The Foundling

Edit Books already read in 2015 are in message 1 of this thread.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & I'll start the nominations!

I'll nominate The Grand Sophy. Anyone who has Georgette Heyer as a favourite author on Good Reads - that is the title mentioned. One of her most famous & beloved books.

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ | 363 comments I'll second Sophy, and also nominate The Black Moth, for Alastair series completeness reasons.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Also A Black Moth is a title everyone can get hold of. It's on Gutenberg & also available here

http://digital.library.upenn.edu/wome...

message 180: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I’ll nominate my favorite of all, The Unknown Ajax. I haven't read it in at least two years! I miss you, Hugo Darracott!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Sorry Abigail, we read The Unknown Ajax last year! You are more than welcome to read & then comment in the old threads though. :)

Do you have another nomination?

message 182: by Hana (new)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Which would you prefer to nominate Hana?

I should have said one nomination per person. Sigh I really shouln't post anything before my first coffee! :)

message 184: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Oh, I'm sorry, I misinterpreted the list above as the list of titles to choose from. My bad!

message 185: by Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ (last edited Jun 19, 2015 01:15PM) (new)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ So do you have another one you would like to nominate Abigail? So far we have;

The Black Moth
The Grand Sophy
& either The Convenient Marriage or a Civil Contract - just waiting for Hana to get back to me with which one she prefers. Hint; or if you are a fan of one of those 2 I could put you down as nominating one & Hana the other! :D ;)

message 186: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I'll let others choose; hard for me to think of more than one or two I wouldn’t want to read.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Abigail wrote: "I'll let others choose; hard for me to think of more than one or two I wouldn’t want to read."

I know & when my ones come up, I'll let someone who does love them lead so that we get a positive discussion. :)

message 188: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear | 1638 comments Sophy +/or another mystery

message 189: by Carolien (new)

Carolien (carolien_s) | 88 comments The Spanish Bride since Harry Smith features in An Infamous Army

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ | 363 comments Abigail wrote: "I’ll nominate my favorite of all, The Unknown Ajax. I haven't read it in at least two years! I miss you, Hugo Darracott!"

Abigail, even though we won't be reading this book, I just want to say that I do admire your taste. :)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Carolien wrote: "The Spanish Bride since Harry Smith features in An Infamous Army"

Carolein you temptress!

Now

The Spanish Bride
The Black Moth
The Grand Sophy
The Convenient Marriage or A Civil Contract

I'll try messaging Hana, but that is such a great line up I'm tempted to make it our final 5!

message 192: by Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ (last edited Jun 19, 2015 11:54PM) (new)

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ | 363 comments Hana won't be back online until after Shabbat. :)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Ok I'll wait & see if someone else has a 5th book they want to nominate & will make a decision then. :)

message 194: by Jacquie (last edited Jun 20, 2015 05:05AM) (new)

Jacquie Scuitto | 261 comments I still would like to see The Tollgate up for consideration. Second choice is The Spanish Bride.

message 195: by Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ (last edited Jun 20, 2015 08:55AM) (new)

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Alright that is 5 books. :) Nominations closed!

I'm going to make the nominations

The Spanish Bride
The Black Moth
The Grand Sophy
The Tollgate
A Civil Contract - as there has always been a lot of talk about this title.

I'll put the poll up later today. :)

Susan in Perthshire (susanageofaquarius) | 1448 comments The Grand Sophy wins my vote!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ OK poll up.

The Tollgate was left off at first & Susan was lightening fast voting. Susan if you would prefer The Tollgate you can change your vote.

This time I have sent the poll to everyone We have a lot of inactive members, but I decided I would rather annoy them than omit any regulars by mistake.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & once again, I haven't received the email. I definitely checked the box by my name. Maybe you don't get the email when you are the sender.

If anyone has received the email can you let me know?

Susan in Perthshire (susanageofaquarius) | 1448 comments Email received okay. And still voting for The Grand Sophy Carol

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Susan wrote: "Email received okay. And still voting for The Grand Sophy Carol"

Cool. It must be the sender doesn't receive a copy even if you check on it.
