March_hare | 10 comments I read this book ages ago, so I don't remember when exactly I read it, but potentially it may have been around 2009.

From what I remember of the plot, the female protagonist somehow stumbled upon or came into an inheritance of magic. She finds out that as a consequence of using said magic, her lifespan is shortened. I remember a scene in which the protag and her mother (or another female character, I'm not entirely sure) enter a cafe and they have to take off heavy winter clothes. They leave it in a pile next to their seat and everyone else in the cafe does it too. There are also other magic users, one of which is a boy and she may fall in love with him???

SPOILER
In the end, the protag somehow gets increased power and she manages to repair all other magic users' lifespans, but as a result, they can no longer do magic. She keeps her powers, and I think gets married or has a baby????

I hope someone can help me with this. Google has been of no help.

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5535 comments This trope / idea appears in quite a few books. It might be worth browsing the TV Tropes page for Cast From Lifespan.

March_hare | 10 comments Thanks! I'll look through the page.

Jessica (Goldenfurpro) (goldenfurproductions) | 453 comments Probably not it, but reminds me of the Magic or Madness series.

March_hare | 10 comments OH! HEY! THAT IS IT! Thank you so much! Haha, I have no idea where I got Canada from. Anyone know how to move this to solved?

Glad you found your book, March_hare. I marked your request as Solved by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, there's a "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

March_hare | 10 comments Thank you, I'll bear that in mind next time.
