In 1990 I read a children’s picture book with reflective puddles. The art was very dark, very gray. I remember cobblestone streets. Maybe a monster lurking in the puddles?

Maybe a book from the puddle lane series?
No, but thank you. I guess the word I’m looking for is more...hologram. The puddles were shiny and there was something lurking in them. A type of tentacled monster like an octopus.
Was the entire book about puddles?
