Ono Northey (ononortheytheshardchronicles) | 46 comments I believe I fit with everyone. D Peach has reviewed one of my books before, but she can review book 2 instead of book 1 to fit into the grid (in fact, I'd prefer it, as she gave such a great review for book 1 :)

message 52: by Laura (new)

Laura Koerber | 666 comments Ono didn't you review one of mine?

message 53: by William (new)

William Collins (willcollins) | 179 comments I've read one of Laura's so she can't read me I believe.

message 54: by Laura (new)

Laura Koerber | 666 comments William is correct and I believe I have notified EM about that up thread somewhere.

message 55: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Jr. (3mdetectiveagency) | 393 comments E.M. wrote: "Thomas - TBH, I'm not sure I can fit you in but before I do the sudoku to see, can I ask has anyone in this group reviewed you before?

No one here has reviewed me.

message 56: by Ono (new)

Ono Northey (ononortheytheshardchronicles) | 46 comments Ah sorry, I've reviewed Laura's. (thanks Laura!)

message 57: by E.M. (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Welcome Ono and Thomas!

Everyone - please keep checking and let me know if you have a clash I've missed. Thanks!

message 58: by F. (new)

F. Stephan | 8 comments I'd like to join in your last slot if possible with Space station acheron. It is a stand alone novel in my Human Federation universe.

I am not participating in any reviewing currently which means I can commit to the expected read :-)

message 59: by Phillip (new)

Phillip Murrell | 161 comments I just got back from a camping trip and see there are new people in this group. I've checked all relationships, and I only have one with Thomas. He read one of my other books but not the one I've selected for this group.

message 60: by E.M. (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Welcome F.!

Okies let's see if this group can fly.

Please post to tell me if you have reviewed any of the four people above you on the list (the list wraps around so 10 is 'above 1). Please also check that if you have already reviewed any of the four people 'below' you on the list they have more books available that you have not yet reviewed and post to tell me if they have not.

You can check if you have reviewed anyone before by going to your reviews, clicking the 'Author' heading to get them in alphabetical author order, and then checking through to see. You can check if someone has reviewed you in the same way through their profile.

If you are new to the group, it's worth checking out how this works so you know for future reference.

When enough people have reported in with no clashes, I can move us on to the reading phase.

message 61: by Phillip (last edited Jul 15, 2020 04:22AM) (new)

Phillip Murrell | 161 comments I have no issues with those above or below me. I plan to buy my books on Amazon.

message 62: by Ed (last edited Jul 15, 2020 07:12AM) (new)

Ed Morawski I have not read or reviewed anyone on the list.

Laura has reviewed me before.

message 63: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Salway | 48 comments Pardon my confusion, but are we reading the people above us or below us?

message 64: by D. (new)

D. Peach | 192 comments I'm good in both directions. :-)

message 65: by Jeremy (new)

Jeremy Jones | 63 comments Good to go!

message 66: by Laura (new)

Laura Koerber | 666 comments 1. Ono Northey has reviewed me
2. Laura Koerber me
3. Jeremy L. Jones no conflict
4. Ed Morawski I reviewed
5. F. Stephan no conflict
6. Bethany Rae Salway no conflict
7. Thomas A. Burns Jr. I have not read any of his books, but his name seems familiar.
8. D. Wallace Peach reviewed me
9. Anastasia Hunt no conflict
10. Phillip Murrell no conflict

I don't know of any way to insure that someone has not reviewed any of my books short of skimming through all of my reviews. I always follow anyone that I contact to send a book and I am not following any of the above authors that I have listed as "no conflict".

message 67: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Salway | 48 comments Ok, I have read D Wallace Peach's Soul Swallowers before, but I can review one of her other novels. So all good for me!

You can read the second in the series or any other book that appeals to you, Bethany. When the list is set, just let me know so I can send it to you. Thanks!

Sounds good to me, Ono.

message 70: by F. (new)

F. Stephan | 8 comments Good to go. Never reviewed anyone or been reviewed by anyone. I will buy my book on amazon.

message 71: by Ono (new)

Ono Northey (ononortheytheshardchronicles) | 46 comments I have a conflict with Coyote Summer / Laura, but as it was my editor who reviewed it I could give it a similar review myself if that helped things along. Don't want to hold up the group.

message 72: by E.M. (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Ono - I checked with a higher authority if this would be acceptable and it appears it is.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reads/reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their readers in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to provide and accept PDF. You may buy or borrow the books you are due to read if you wish, and I’m sure the author will appreciate the verified review, but IT IS NOT COMPULSORY. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

All reviews must be posted to GR. We also encourage members to post on Amazon. When you have posted your reviews, please post the links to each of your reviews, not the book page in this thread.
The mod of each round will record whether members have posted reviews on Amazon and for the good of all, members who persistently fail to post reviews or DNF reviews to Amazon, will find mods less than willing to add them to subsequent groups.

Postings to other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

Setting up and modding these rounds is a labour of love, with a lot of emphasis on the ‘labour’. If you want to show appreciation for all the hard work we admins put in for the group, you could download one of our books as a ‘thank you’.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

message 74: by E.M. (new)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Please read this especially if you are new to these review rounds.

Quick 'start-up' summary for anyone new who might be scratching their heads. You are reviewing the four books 'below' you on the list.

You can, of course, choose to buy any or all of the books or read the books on KU, if you are a subscriber and the books are available there. If you can buy it adds weight to your review as it gives the 'Verified Purchase' stamp on Amazon.

However, as not everyone can buy, you should PM the four people who will be reviewing you (the four above you on the original list of names) through their Goodreads author pages. Click on the down arrow beside the 'Follow Author' button under their picture and it opens a menu which will allow you to message them.

Ask what kind of file they would like or say you can only offer PDF, though unless a publisher uploaded it for you, you can always download a .mobi of your own book from Amazon.

Don't forget to ask where to send it so they can give you their email.

The four people who you are reviewing should be in touch with you in a similar way.

Please make sure you have exchanged ALL FOUR books - or have been assured by your reviewers they will buy your book or read it through KU - as soon as possible. Some people read fast and it can be very frustrating to have to wait a long time to get hold of a book you are committed to review.
Don't forget to post the links to your reviews here so you can be signed off for them.

Please post your review to Goodreads, your own Amazon store and any other Amazon stores you might have access to as well.

Chrys Cymri is modding this round so PM her with any issues ongoing please.

message 98: by Ben (new)

Ben Haskett | 153 comments Hi, Ed (and everyone else). I'm not in a round right now, so I'm lurking all the active rounds.

You mentioned in your third review that there were no bookmarks in the "Go To" tab on your Kindle. This has always been a tell-tale sign for me that I'm reading a self-published book. Another thing I see often in self-published Kindle books is that there's no option for displaying the page number -- tapping the lower-left corner only cycles between Kindle's cryptic KNP location and its prediction for how much time is left in the chapter/book.

Can I assume this isn't the case for your own books? Do you know how to include these features?

message 99: by Ed (new)

Ed Morawski I use Calibre to format all my ebooks. You must save the .doc file to a html file then add it to Calibre. It will then flawlessly convert it to .mobi and .epub with al features.

Then I upload it to my Kindle to check it.

fyi - the worst thing you can do is upload a pdf and try to convert that through Amazon.

message 100: by Ben (new)

Ben Haskett | 153 comments Thank you for the information. I've never tried to convert a PDF, but I do upload my Word documents directly to KDP. Converting my chapter headings to one of Word's "styles" creates a bookmark in the Headings section that KDP handily converts for me into a Kindle bookmark, but I was at a loss as to how to get traditional page numbers. This helps.
