I add new French acquisitions for the library I work at to our Goodreads group. Most of the time, this means adding a new record - either as another edition of an existing book (i.e., a translation) or a new book altogether. I have a dilemma right now with a series that has been translated from English.
I added the French editions of "The Inn at Rose Harbor" and "Rose Harbor in Bloom" by Debbie Macomber. The series is called "Rose Harbor" in English. However, the French name for the series is "La Villa Rose". On the book's page (ex: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...) the French title displays with the English series name. What should I do about this - leave it as is? Create a separate series? Is this a simple setting I can change?

Z-squared | 8575 comments This is something that can't be changed. The grey text that links to a series page will only display the name associated with that series page. Since the series page was created with the English title, that's what'll display, even on French editions (and even if you put the French series title in parentheses in the title field of that record). The French series title will display on certain other screens (like the all edition page) where the full contents of the title field are displayed.

If the series in French and English are the same in every other way (i.e., the same works in the same order), you can add a note on the series page in the description field that the series is also known as 'La Villa Rose' in French.

I'll do that, thank you!
