Why do you think Fire was a common theme throughout the book?

This is the most unique dark fantasy I have ever read. It was brutal, violent, but also had some amazing moments of levity. I loved the characters, the multiverse, and the idea of the catalogs. It was so good! 5 stars from me.

I give you all the credit in the world! I started this book with high hopes, but I just could not finish it. Like your review, I have seen so many 5 out of 5 stars, but I just could not connect with this story. So glad you enjoyed it, though! I will be back for The Phantom of the Opera next month :)

This was a weird read LOL
I liked the characters and it's a silly kind of take on how the universe works. Even though I enjoyed the characters, I couldn't really connect with any of them, least of all Carolyn.
I did really like the plot, though, there was some really good twists and turns although I think the stuff after Carolyn kills David gets dragged out for a long time. I listened to the audiobook at 3x speed just to power through it. For this author's debut novel. though, it's an impressive world he's built.
it's a 3.5 from me!
