Here's a quick message to present you Reedsy! We are building a community of top publishing professionals (editors, illustrators and soon marketers) to work with authors: https://reedsy...."

I just re-issued my Romantic Mystery "Five Crazy Days in May" which I had professionally edited by "Ms. Rachel Hockett" another of your editors. She was excellent to work with, and did a wonderful job putting that professional polish on my book.

That's definitely a good sign!

Stuart Murray | 48 comments Just sounds like a one place shopping site for authors to spend even more of their money on books that aren't selling. They probably offer very good services but it has to be considered that they are in business to make money. Which is fine, we all are. I would definitely want to know that they provide a proven value added experience before signing up.
Improving our books is a good thing, but if we all spend the same amount of money on editors, illustrators and marketers then all that will accomplished is simply moving the goalposts, at a price.
Poor writers that should be weeded out will move up a notch and betters writers will move a corresponding amount.
Status quo.

As Stuart said, it remains status quo.

I think it's good if 'mediocre writers' become less mediocre… And for very good writers who have no money or are not willing to invest in their work (which can be understandable), crowdfunding can be a very interesting solution (granted you're ready to put in the work). Else, you can seek the support of friends and family. Or, hey, traditional publishing is not dead, you know!

But sincerely, artists have always had to invest in themselves. Just like entrepreneurs have to invest in their company in the beginning…

Ricardo (ricardofayet) | 9 comments We were also interviewed by Joanna Penn: http://www.thecreativepenn.com/2014/1...

She explains exactly why we created Reedsy:

"The fast-growing self-publishing environment is attracting all kinds of start-ups and companies that intend to serve authors. However, most of them seem to aim at the periphery of what authors really need, which in my opinion, is primarily editors and cover designers."
