I don't recall that he cheated just that he went to one of the priestesses to feed but she thought he was with her.....or something along those lines

There is so much of the fated mate trope going on in PNR and I think that cheating would kind of go against that so authors avoid it.
Personally, I don't read books with cheating and if there is even a hint of it going on, the book ends up on the DNF pile.

The fated plot ...good point ...
Sometimes we will see a side character who has had to mate for political reasons or they just gave up on finding their true mate. But this is never the main character who meets their true mate with a different mate and they have to figure out what to do. Stick to their promise or follow their heart.
Not sure I have ever read a book with cheating...I am not a contemporary romance fan but I have seen them in the blurbs...just found it interesting it seems to be noticeably absent in PNR and Fantasy now that I think about it.

I've read a book where a recently Mated Alpha openly committed infidelity while he forced his mate to listen from an adjoining room. His intention was dominance & a need to assuage his delicate male ego. Needless to say she tore each & every female that came out.
He did it because their Union was an agreed upon political arrangement & he wanted his female childhood friend, who had moved on and found her HEA.
But when his mate is almost killed he realises they are truly fated and begs her forgiveness. Being the consummate idiot, she accepts him back and they play happy families with a HEA.
Yea was so not a fan of this story. I think I ended up deleting this one.

That does not sound like something I would want to read.

Do you remember the book title....want to add it to my "stay far away from" shelf....

Perhaps...in classic stories like The End of The Affair or in Anna Karenina it seems to dominate the story

And I totally agree LastBreath, Sandra J, Dawn & Nichole - that sounds like a horrible book and I certainly don't want to read it either.
LastBreath can you remember what it was called or who wrote it - so we can all stay away from it.

I've been raking my brain over this one and it's frustrating the jellies out of me because all I can see is the female - a Mediterranean shifter - and the love interest of another character.
I vow to keep putting keywords into Google until I find it.

Totally right I was just thinking of books with infidelity issues that I enjoyed.

Lols that is the worst feeling trying to recall the title of the book and google does no justice!

No worries :)

LastBreath, what about your friend? He might remember.

There's a group called What's the Name of That Book which is exactly for this purpose. Try that and give us the warning. I hate cheating in a romance too. It makes me despise the character doing it which will get the book thrown across the room.
Dawn, what romance genre do you find these plots in? To me, that plot puts it outside the romance label.

Sounds like the book was so bad your brain is refusing to access the title, lol!

I am so busted lol not a big romance fan but here is what happened... I was in my local bookstore browsing and there was a book with a cool cover - sorry don't know the name - but on the back there was a blurb about a woman who was trying to get over the hurt of her husbands cheating and should she stay or go kind of thing. No idea if there was more to the story or not because I rolled my eyes like ugg who wants to read that. However it got me thinking, hence my question.
Oh wait I think one of Molly Harper's books tackles infidelity...wonder which one it was.
