I really loved the twist on the original fairy tale, and the characters. I also like how there is faith weaved in throughout the story.
Yes! I loved that too!! I loved how even though it's medieval, it wasn't to 'medievalish' if you know what I mean? A lot of times those type of books can just be too violent.
Sarah wrote: "I loved the story itself and loved that it truly showed good Christian values and condoned not supported doing married people stuff before marriage and I loved how faith was intermingled and agreed..."Are you saying they did intimate stuff before marriage? Condoning means to approve or support.
Emma wrote: "ClaraBelle, I believe Sarah was saying that they do NOT condone that stuff."Thank you. That’s what I hoped she was saying but was confused nonetheless.
YES! I loved this book :DI love fairy-tale retellings, and although this novel was loosely based, I still really enjoyed it!

Your welcome! 😃
I have just finished The healer's Apprentice and I really enjoyed this book.I like Rose character her wisdom to make the right decisions she turns to God and listen to Frau Gerusha's advice.
Lord Hamlin is a man driven by his duty with a great sense of honor.
In their battle against evil, Moncore wickedness, they turn to the God and the Word to destroy all his schemes to hurt Rose and stop her marriage with Lord Hamlin.
It reminds us that God is greater than evil.
So glad you enjoyed it Yannick!! I totally agree everything you said, yes, I loved Rose, and how she always tried to submit to God and Frau Gerusha's wishes. She was just such a sweet woman! I don't want to say too much and give things away for those who haven't read this, but were you shocked about Moncore???
Moncore was a wicked man, driven by evil and doesn't seem to regret what he is doing and that is very sad he had hardened his heart.
Reading this with Hailey. I am done while she is finishing The Giver, required summer reading for school, then she is picking this one up. Such a sweet story and while for me it was predictable, it didn't make me like it any less. Rose is a great example even though she made mistakes, she certainly learned from them. The Hildy/Gunther story had me right up to the proposal. My favorite part was Rose telling Wilhelm to not give up the throne for her. So heart breaking but such a mature decision for her age. I plan to continue the series. Hope Hailey loves it like I did.
