I have a back-log of about a week though I expect to read Wicked Deceit in a couple of days so there will still be enough time to discuss it if you're interested.
Poor Sam, nearly 1 mission every 8 and a 1/2 days for the last 5 years and he's only 27. The poor kid has no life outside his work.
Bailing at 4%, end of chapter 5. Strikes me as very young writing. Looking for something with much more substantial character depth and realization.Another time, another book.

Too bad you didn't like it. I hope the next book will be more your cup.
I'm starting the book today.

Too bad - unfortunatelly that's often the case with indie books. If you read Kindle you can get it there https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07... - it's no more free but for $0.99 (if I see the price correctly) not too expensive either. If you are KU member it's part of it so wouldn't cost you anything. If you are not KU member and never were, you can always join for a trial month and read it that way if you want. I tried it beginning of this year and now I'm collecting KU books to read them later this year when I re-join for a month.
This books is available in paperback as well, though in my opinion $13.99 is too high to even consider buying it.
I hope this helps you to decide if you want join/want invest the money to buy a book by a new-to-you-author.
BTW don't be confused by the Amazon cover - they changed it recently. When I feel better again I'll add the ACEs and the series for the Sam Wick universe.

I finished the book earlier in the month. For me I didn't dislike the book. Just an average book. Felt the characters were a little thin, but I had no issues with the story itself. Entertaining enough to take me to the finish. Felt the cliff hanger at the end was something I could have done without. I very likely will just let this be it and not continue. That said, I still look for new authors. You never know when a new discovery is a gem.
I finished this book tonight and am quite dissapointed. It started out quite well and interesting but got unnecessary violent and complicated where the stright approach would've been enough and make more sense. I love good fight scenes and if they make sense even enjoy them very much but had here the impression it was more to fill up pages and show how much Sam's above all other operatives, mercenaries and similar characters - still it didn't work well for me.After reading the so called prequel which became now #1.5 in series I bought almost all of the books in series and now regrett this decision. Since Amazon cut down the period you can return books from four to two weeks I can't give them back :-(
I'll see if I can at least use these books for some challenges but otherwise they moved pretty much down my reading list. Too bad many authors are great at short stories or novelette-length stories but lack in quality in full-length novels - at least that's what I exprienced several times this years *grrrr*

Sometimes books get better and better as you get into the series...I don't know anything about this series, but you never know!
