Are you worried that the TV won't live up to expectations?

I'm looking forward to the adaptation, and casting seems solid, however the book is so expansive I'm not sure how it will work onscreen. For example, I loved the footnotes in the book, but I can't see them including these in the series.

What do you think? And what are you most looking forward to seeing in the series?

Wow. I had no idea there was a series in the works. The plot was incredibly complicated in places, I have a hard time believing that TV will capture any of the nuances.

I think it will. BBC mini serieses are usually of a good quality, it has very good and renowned actors and directors, while it is free ov Hollywood action and romance.

I haven't seen adaptations that are exactly what I have in mind. The BBC is good at turning books in to miniseries, so I think they will have something good.

If they screw up the dynamic between Mr. Norrell and Strange, then the whole show is done. They are the meat.

Norrell X Strange ftw lol

I didn't know there was going to be a tv series and yet I was somehow expecting that there would be one sooner of later. I hope they do a good job.

Do we know when the series will air? I am terrified I'm going to miss it but everything I read/see just says "coming soon"

Of course it won't. It never does! :-)

I've read that it's going to be a lot more "fast paced" than the book, which might be okay as long as they don't turn it into too much of an action-adventure flick! I'm looking forward to seeing the magic brought to life, and the period in general which I'm sure will be done well. I agree that the essential thing is to get the relationship between Strange and Norrell to come across right.

Having only seem the short clip from bbc, I thong the casting of strange and norrell looks marvellous, I think they will do a good job because it is a mini series and not a movie by Hollywood. Can anyone tell me when it out

I'm also really hopeful the show lives up to expectations, and I think BBC is one of the best networks to tackle it. Beyond the points already made about character representation, I think the musical score and art direction could really push the show from being an average adaptation to a fantastic one. I absolutely adored the atmosphere in JS&MN, which ranged from spectral and supremely eerie to irreverent and satirical (sometimes in the same paragraph!) I'm also hoping (probably futilely) that the story of the glovemaker's daughter and the Raven King makes it in. That could be beautifully rendered.
