The biggest regret Amir had in his life was not helping Hassan when he was being attacked by Assef and his crew. If you were Amir, would you have ran away to protect your own safety, or risk your own life to help a friend? Why?

I hope I would have stayed and helped - in all my 82 years I never had the opportunity in an overt episode to do so. My fear is that based on my other behaviors I would not have.
