I read this book series as a teen in the late 90's early 2000s but not sure what year is came out, the title or the author, or any character names. I can only remember vague details & it's driving me nuts. It was a young adult female protaganist, she has two female best friends, I think the dad was single (mom passed?), not a period book or fantasy, took place in the time period it was written in. i know she had an egyptian cat that could unhinge it's jaw & i think saves her from a cobra at one point. They lived in a coastal town, i don't remember the plot exactly but in the first book she gets threatened with a note harpooned to her door with a sculpin fish & there was a scene where she gets stuck on a boat at night & comes across i think it was a sea helicopter that seems to have no one there but then a masked diver shows up with a harpoon gun & attacks her. I think the water may have been glowing too? I don't remember much else but i do remember one of the other books in the series took place on a skiing trip in Aspen with the same characters. I wish I could remember more, I can almost vividly see the book cover of her looking terrified finding the fish pinned to her door... if anyone can help me find this I would greatly appreciate it!
