Looking for a book - I read a book years and years ago and I really enjoyed it but can't remember it's title. It was set in the old west and it was about a few generations (I think) of women. I can remember one of the women was a teacher who met and married a man and they went together to settle some land. One of the women had a crippled arm from when she was born, was possibly twins, can't quite remember but she was a bit of a bitter person. and another of the women was stolen and lived with the native Americans (think she had red hair). When the woman or girl was stolen her family was all killed by the native Americans. I read this book in the 90's. I can't remember the author, though I think it was a female author. And I have no idea what the book title was. I'm beginning to think it could have possibly been 3 books in one cover? It's was quite a thick book. That's all I can remember and I'm really hoping someone knows the book I'm after

Was this book by Caroline B. Cooney, possibly The Ransom of Mercy Carter? (I remember reading a blurb in the back of The Face on the Milk Carton.)
