I completely changed that style for Golden Angel and it fits with Mr. Taylors recommendations. It begins in the home of a harried stay at home Mom (relatable). A typical American slice of life that by the end of the first chapter, (very short chapter) takes a horrible turn. This story is a creek among a few other creeks that eventually flow into the river of the story. Three or four stories running in parallel slowly making their way together while picking up speed. Hopefully to a climax the reader finds interesting. This book is being edited.
Book three, The lady of Castle Dunn is much the same. Only we begin with a relatively young, late 50's multimillionaire enraged that he is dying, his liver destroyed by alcohol abuse. He puts himself on a path where he would do anything to live. At least, that's what he thought he wanted.
Starring in each story is my protagonist Amy Lynn. Always learning, sometimes successful, sometimes not. She has a strange combination of bravado and strong will shaded by an ever thinning cloud of self doubt. Surrounded by friends you will learn about intimately, she finds her way through while dealing with a world full of evil and madness. A world that needs the will, morals and talent of Southern Christian woman a hell of a lot more than she needs it.
Great advice from Brad Taylor, thank you Samuel.
And for 2016, Mr Taylor does another one, albeit in audio format. Highly in depth stuff and the man seems to be reflecting a lot more on his own writing process in this interview. http://diymfa.com/podcast/ep-79-brad-...
With the release of his latest military thriller, Brad Taylor wrote an article for would-be future authors who are having problems with starting to write. Very helpful stuff and looking back at the many thrillers which I've read, I would have to agree with the approach he proposes.
