Looking for someone to read a book about a modern teenage girl who gets unexpectedly transported to 1800s London with a boy named Gideon. It sounds very interesting. The cover doesn’t really catch my eye but I hope someone will want to read it as well. Fantasy and romance.

Hey, Dalia! I'm interested in checking this out. I'm a sucker for fantasy romances that I don't immediately hate.
I’m open to it. How much should we read at a time? Or should we just dive into it and see what happens?
Sounds good! I'm having some trouble with my online library account right now, though, so I might have to start tomorrow.
Yes, I love Libby! And it looks like I've set up a temporary account (I'll probably have to renew the original) so I can start reading.
I finished chapter three and it’s intriguing so far. I think it’s interesting how instead of using a time machine like most books, when they reach a certain age they just uncontrollably time travel to a random time.
I'm enjoying it. It's hard to get used to the character's voice, though. The writing style seems really old fashioned and posh for what's supposed to be a modern setting. It's jarring when she brings up TVs or cars. Maybe because it was translated from German?
I think she does lead a very posh and old fashioned life style. I actually didn’t know it was originally German. That could definitely be why the writing has a different feel to it.
I like it, though. I've actually read ahead, so you can go ahead and start reading if you haven't yet.
Nah it’s fine. Last time I did a buddy read I accidentally read the whole book in one sitting. I actually really liked that book. It was called Before I Fall. It’s about a girl who relives the day of her death 7 times.
I've heard of that book. I think I've had my fill of dead mean girl redemption arcs though. So depressing.
I’m still deciding whether or not I like Gideon. I know I HATE the count for some glaringly obvious reasons
I haven't read to 12. I'll tell you right now that I hate Gideon. I can't stand rude love interests.
Gideon really isn’t so rude when you keep going. I think he was just being rude in the beginning because she likes Charlotte
I'm just not a fan of the whole "it's not like I like you or anything" trope Gwyneth has going on right now. She seems really passive and immature, but I guess she has room for development.
I have about 60 pages left. I’ll probably finish today or tomorrow. So far much less time travel than I expected. Though to be fair, it is a trilogy.
The first book just felt like it was setting up the rest of the series, which is fine, except now I feel like it was a waste of time to read the first book.
I enjoyed the writing style and the story was pretty good. I agree with your comment about this book setting up the other books. Recently I read a book called Shatter Me. I felt the same way, like the book should not be over yet. There was less time traveling in this book then I expected, which sounds weird but it’s true.
It felt like the ending was rushed and nothing really happened at all. And yeah, I really wanted more time traveling! The concept of randomly being teleported back in history was really exciting and I thought that's what the book was going for, but the author settled for an info dump instead. And there is no way Gwyneth is in love with Gideon already. I get that it's partially a romance novel, but that is ridiculous.
Hi, so I don't want to sound like a busybody, but I saw this discussion and felt the need to coment lol. I read the books a while ago and really liked them. I just wanted to say that there are movies about the books, if you guys would like to see them, just to let you know lol. The last one is nothing like the book, but the first two are great in my opinion.
