If Jace seems to know everything about Clary even before she does, why doesn't he know how Alec feels about him?
I think Jace knew that Alec had a soft spot for him, but loved him enough as a brother, to not bring it up because he assumed the love was misguided and Alec was letting their connection as parabatai influence his feelings for Jace. In one of the following books in the series this issue is confronted and Jace tells Alec that Alec isn't in love with him, but more the idea of him and supports him with his endeavors with Magnus :)

That's a very good question... you'd think sense Jace lived with the Lightwoods for most of his life and then Alec became his Papionti or however you spell it. You'd think he'd pick up on something like that. The only reason I can think of that he doesn't know is that maybe he couldn't tell because they'd lived together for so long that he just didn't realize Alec was acting different or having those feelings. Or maybe he was choosing not to see it, even though he really did.
Hmm...if i had to guess Id say that because the parabatai relationship is so close he mistook Alex's love for him that way as a brotherly parabatai love. Also...boys are stupid and oblivious....
I think Jace didn't see Alec's feelings, because Alec pushed it away like it wasn't true. Jace also never looked at Alec like that, so I don't think it was something he expected to come from him.
thats because jace loves clary in a way that's different from loving Alec, who's like a brother to him.
Jace loved Clary in a different way from his love for Alec. His love for Alec is like a brother, and for Clary it was like a love relationship. I ship Jace And Clary, (SPOILERS) Magnus and Alec :D
I think that he saw it but knew that if he told Alec the truth that it would hurt him. Jace loved Alec like a brother and wouldn't do anything to hurt him.

I think Jace knows. But since he disagrees with Alec's own focus on the issue (Alec is set on making it as if he's in love with Jace, when he's actually using him as an excuse), he's just waiting for Alec to be ready to face the truth himself. I think it's very considerate of Jace not to push Alec into something he's not ready to do. Jace may not be the most demostrative person in the world (within his relationship with Alec, at least) but he does know how to show he cares, in his own way. Jace may be self-centered and may sometimes come across as the kind of person who doesn't mind much about other people's feelings, but if there's someone he does know, that's Alec. It would be ridiculous if Jace didn't properly see him (when he takes the time to do so, that is-we don't talk about Jace not realising Alec was going mad thinking about Magnus' safety in CoHF. We don't). He does, and very clearly. That's why he knows Alec will open up to him when he's ready. That's why Jace sees very clearly that Alec is not really in love with him, even when Alec is trying so hard not to see it himself.
