ABANDONED. Horror book, weird paranormal stuff. Girl is forced to help her step mom renovate a house that's surrounded by a forest where children have gone missing. Cover: girl in woods, red & black. Spoilers ahead.

I'm looking for a book about this girl that is forced to go with her step mom to help her rennovate a house. This house is in this really small town. Everyone thinks the house is cursed and no one will help amy, the step mom (i think thats her name), to fix the house. The girl has a camera that she takes a lot of pictures with.
The house is surrounded by a forest. Children have gone missing in the forest. The parents got them back by trading ohter children for them, but the children that came back are changed. Their jaws unhinge and fall to the ground in a silent scream.
The girl discovers all this while dealing with her depression. She finds a lot of clues from this mural that keeps changing. She also has to deal with memories of her best friend that killed herself.

Also the cover was a girl going into the woods and everything was in red and black.
It was hardcover.

Thanks, Kris. I dont have a computer at this time, so I can't edit it.
Also, there was this other kid in the book. The girl described his hair as burnt orange and he had a lot of freckles. He painted portraits of his brother, who came back from the forest different. He also painted a mural in the house the girl and her step mom were renovating. The mural seemed to always change on it's own.
There was also a shed in the woods were the girl was chased. She gets dragged down into the dirt by the roots and chokes on dirt. She saves herself by burning the notes she wrote about her dead friend.
