I remember reading this series somewhere around 2012-2013 and it seemed pretty recent, I would guess late 2000s, early 2010s. The main plot of the book was that there was this private boarding school for gifted and special children who had all kinds of unique talents. The school was divided up by talent so the super artsy kids were in one section and the super smart kids were in another. The protagonist is this young boy who's family is connected to the school in some way, I believe that his dad or grandfather may have worked at the school, but he is very hesitant and nervous about going. I think the series is named after him and it kind of does the Harry Potter thing where the books are like "Harry Potter and the..." but I have no idea what the kid's name is. I also think that there is some magic/supernatural element to the school and I have no idea why, but I feel like it's in some way related to animals (maybe a dog???). The genre of this series was a cross between your typical "gifted school" type deal and fantasy, and I think most of the books revolved around mysteries and strange things happening at the school and the kids getting to the bottom of it. The series has a lot of books, at least 5, but probably even more than that.
