Maria | 7 comments I have read the first two books about three years ago, the story wasn't finished yet, so it's a trilogy or series.

It's maybe a bit similar to the Shadow Grail series. The heroine is a girl with an unhappy home-life (nasty stepdad??) who graduated early and wants to go to college against the wishes of her family.
She is accepted but when she goes to the college to enroll they tell her she hasn't actually fulfilled her high- school's graduation requirements because she didn't take a swimtest though her school had never had a swimtest. She is desperate, can't enroll can't go home, then some guy comes and basically offers her a scholarship to a private college. She accepts although it's suspicious. The school is on an isolated island, she has to go at once, she is not allowed to take any of her belongings and later gets into trouble for smuggling in a few things.

At first the school looks OK,although there are a lot of martial arts and such, but later it gets sinister, kids die during the punishments or they have to kill each other during martial arts tests to survive. The school is run by vampires (there are supposedly good and bad ones but not clear who is what,) the students are trained to be kind of warrior bodyguards or army for the vampires.
The girl speaks German and it's important for the vampires, they want her to improve in modern business German and I thin in medieval German too. They are big on the ancient and on the medieval make the students learn mythology or medieval music and similar subjects.
