SOLVED. Friends reunited — SC setting? [s]

Trying to remember name and author of a book I read probably 15-20 years ago. . If I remember correctly, it took place in SC. It involved friends getting together at a rented house, possibly in a marshy area of the state. It seems there was something mysterious that happened while they were there, such as someone dying. The characters were men and women and some had been involved with one another in their earlier years of life.

I’ve wanted to read this book again but can’t remember any more of the details. I used to read a lot of Dorothea Benton Frank books and thought it was one of hers but I can’t find any of hers that seem to have a similar plot.

I think I have it figured out with the help of my niece—I believe it’s “Islands” by Anne Rivers Siddons.
