I think I'll go with Meg and say Edgar Allen Poe, since I, likewise, have never read it!

My cat was afraid of storms this morning so I'm awake. Here's my answer, Emma:
The poet is Anne Bradstreet. The poem is The Flesh and the Spirit. She was a Puritan who lived in the American Colonies in the 1600's. She's especially important because she was the first writer to be published in the Colonies.
I should explain why I know so much about literature and history. I've been interested in reading since I was a preschooler and was blessed with a family who encouraged my love of reading. When I entered first grade, we were given an entry test and it was discovered that I had the reading level of a third grader! Everybody was shocked! Again, I credit my wonderful family! I have 3 rooms in my house filled with bookcases packed with books! By the time I was in my twenties, I actually had more American History books than our local library and I've been adding to that collection for almost 40 years! My family always encouraged and supported my love of learning and they deserve all the credit for my knowledge. I really have been blessed and I feel that way about this group and all of you, too!

As I said, Meg, I've always been a voracious reader and it really is because of my family, who encouraged me. That's why I became a teacher. It gave me the chance to give back all of the blessings I've received. It's why I chose to teach Kindergarten...I wanted to make a difference in the early learning years and instill my deep love of learning in children at the very start of their education. That's when it matters most and provides a foundation for success.

I was thinking the same thing about Miss Meggy's hours! It seems I've become a very bad influence around here! Please forgive me for corrupting others! Shall I go to the corner? Please? The past 2 days have been way too stressful for me and I would love nothing more than to sit in a corner all day today!!! LOL!

I think that's a great idea, Emma! Though I am afraid Meg might put a sign in the corner saying "This area reserved for Emma & Pamela!" Wouldn't that be awful! ; 0
