I want to say Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, but that book is set in England, not New England. Burnett did move to the U.S. later, even though she was born in the U.K. I will stick with that answer though:

The Book: The Secret Garden
The Author: Frances Hodgson Burnett

I didn't think that Little Women was the answer because it made me think of Anne, because it doesn't, I just guessed that because that's usually what Dorry does for the answer!! 🤣🤣🤣

message 2750: by Lily Rose (new)

Lily Rose Dorothea | 1454 comments Haha! Well, the question was based on the opinion I have, as well as what I found a lot of people saying on the internet, comparing Anne to Rebecca.
