Hi Allyson,
We know no parental consent is needed.😉😄"
Um, is this a question? I'm sorry, I don't get what you mean?😆"
We know you're not a kid.
I was pulling your leg.😉

Today's quiz: is a double quiz
"Quoth the Raven, Nevermore" written by ?

Isn't that Edgar Allen Poe??"
Is it? What is it about?"
The Raven 🤭

Oh okay.😁😂

Is it just me or do you too forget he's American and mistakenly think he's a British author? I think it's because his works are so much more dramatic and....morbid compared to Hawthorne or Longfellow. Poe's works remind me of Mary Shelley or a similar gothic author.

I have too!!!"
🤐😯😬 Oops!

Actually, her Frankenstein is great! I read it for British Lit one year and then did a study guide from Progeny Press. Like you, I was unsure about her writings, but the study guide brought out lots of great morals and lessons we can learn from her story telling.

Hannah, I haven't come across that, he being mistaken
for being British; however, he was the American Gothic.
At the end of his life, he was found wondering the streets
in someone else's saying, "God have mercy on my poor soul".
A man named "Walker arrived at Gunner's Hall, he found a man, delirious and dressed in shabby second-hand clothes, lying in the gutter. The man was semi-conscious, and unable to move, but as Walker approached the him, he discovered something unexpected: the man was Edgar Allan Poe.
"...e never regained enough consciousness to explain how he had come to be found, in soiled clothes not his own, incoherent on the streets. Instead, Poe spent his final days wavering between fits of delirium, gripped by visual hallucinations. The night before his death, according to his attending physician Dr. John J. Moran, Poe repeatedly called out for "Reynolds"—a figure who, to this day, remains a mystery"
Interesting, n'est ce pas? Quite sad.

Oh, ha sorry for the confusion. I meant if anyone else had a problem with remembering he was American instead of just me.
What a sad life! No wonder he wrote such dark, somber stories!

You've just put in the mood to read it!!😃 Let's see if I have any access to it...

Edgar Allen Poe is a hard one to read!!! 😷

The Raven and the Tell-Tale Heart are the most
common, especially in school curriculum.
Annabel Lee is a beautiful poem.

Now do you see why I need Jane Austen?

Edgar Allen Poe is a hard one to read!!! 😷"
I agree. He is too dark for me.
If you do read Annabel Lee, it is a beautiful
poem.

Oh dear me! Hahahaha!! Hope you enjoy it LOTS then!!!

😳🤪😵🥴😂🤣"
Oh my goodness!!!!! You seriously read them all??!!! *gulp*
Welcome back Meg!! We sure missed you!! ❤️❤️🍭

naughty group? Does this mean we're
all in time-out?😄"
Well it would be lonely around here if I did that! 😄❤️

That's for sure!! 🙊🤣🤣

I need to do some research about this comet. I hadn't heard anything about it but when we left early last Monday it was still dark and I noticed something very bright in the sky with a tail. It actually occurred to me that it looked like a comet but I told myself I was crazy and didn't even point it out to my dad! A few days later we were visiting with my aunt and she said something about this comet that was supposed to be visible...my ears really perked up! 🤣

Yes, Pamela you've been such a fun new addition to the group! We've so enjoyed your participation....and we're glad we didn't scare you away with our crazy antics. I mean, when Meg's away, what can you expect?
Which, BY THE WAY, Dorothy did NOTHING to control us, Meg! I think she should be fired as sub-moderator.

Oooh believe me, I never made her sub-moderator! 😂

Hi Meg!
I've been enjoying this group so much!
After watcing every night, I still haven't seen the comet. Where did you see it? In what part of the sky? I'm going to try to see it again tonight!
I've discovered that this group has lots of lively ladies...We were all rather bad and got off-topic quite often while you were gone. It won't do to fire Dorothy. She tried very hard to control us, but I'm afraid that's an impossible task!
Seriously, I am having a great time in this group! I look forward to getting to know you!

When the cat's away the mice will play! Your "crazy antics" make my day! I've been rather quiet today b/c I had to run many errands...I SO enjoyed doing that in this lovely heat & humidity!
Pam

Meg,
You finally met Pammy Jo, your Southern cousin.

Night, all!"
A cats head? Really?😂😕 I don't even like cats!"
(Meggy's going to jump on you for your dislike of cats.) The reason is that your new nickname is Alley Cat. Sorry, but that's just what comes into my head!

My sympathies, Pamela.😓 🗓🍁🍂Sigh!
Do you make a pitcher of iced tea?

Were you proud of us for filling up 20 pages before you got back!?! I must say, we were quite proud of ourselves!!!
Aw, hope you're able to rest tonight, Pammy Jo and stay out of the heat! It can be draining for sure!

NOT LIKE CATS???!!! Who ever heard such nonsense?!
I actually have a sweatshirt which says "Sorry, I can't...I have plans with my cat!" I've been tempted to actually say that a time or two, but have not yet had the nerve to do it! With me, it really is the truth and it IS all about the cat!
Pammy Jo
(shall we add "Crazy Cat Lady" to my growing list of names?)

Night, all!"
A cats head? Really?..."
I used to be called "The Cat Lady" Pamela, so I can relate! I still ADORE cats and have 3, (😳) I've just discovered dogs in the past few years. 😂 My Mandie is just so precious to me!

Hansie, I doubt Meg is anything but proud of us!!😂
Oh dear. I forgot about you and your cats Pammy!!😁 That's funny! We defiantly should!!😂😂

Why should we do it defiantly?
"Into the corner, Alley Cat, for your shocking display of dislike for cats!" ~Meg

I'm with Allyson on that score.
I like kittens, once the stage is out
grown, no more.
I prefer dogs. 🐩🐕🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

Ruth,
I missed your comment earlier. I am a tea addict and have a pitcher of home brewed tea in the fridge at all times...sadly, I have to dilute it quite a bit because of doctor's orders. He says it's not good for me because of my kidney failure, but I say if I'm going to leave this world, I want it to be with a glass of tea in one hand and a book in my other hand! (and a cat on my lap, of course!)
