That question must have been asked before I joined the group. I'm off to a fantastic start, am I not? As for being kept in the dark, I am used to being kept "like a mushroom"...the rest of that quote is best left unsaid!!!! ; 0

You are doing just fine, Pamela
it was a good question.
How did you learn about Twain's
neighbor?
I didn't know about it until last month.
It would have been an interesting
community to live in.
I imagine if one crossed Twain, one
could end up in scathing or sarcastic
article.😄

I've always been a Mark Twain fan and learned a lot about him over the years. As soon as I learned to read well as a child, I read as many of Twain's books as I could get my hands on! I am interested in the Civil War, too, and I remember reading that Harriet Beecher Stowe was Twain's neighbor. My mom was wonderful about buying books for me, even as a pre-schooler...I credit her with my love of reading, along with so many other things.

Ooh! Hannah, sorry I know you didn't say that to me, but do you think you can post the link on?

My mother loved Mark Twain adventures:
Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, she often mentioned
them to us. When I read it, I understood her love
of the Childhood adventures. She also encouraged
us to read, buying books for us to read together
or retreat into our respective corners.
Sweet memories. I have the same sentiments
about my dear mother.
I have yet to read Harriet Beecher Stowe,
I would like to read it this year, perhaps a
group read would be nice.

Perhaps one day your grandchildren

Put them in the corner to finish the book.

Put them in the corner to finish the book."
For sure! Before I smack them upside the head with "The Complete Works of Jane Austen".
