Yes! It's quite good! Do you know, based on their political platforms, John F. Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt would both be Republicans if they were in office today? That's how far to the left the Democrats have gone in modern politics. Dwight D. Eisenhower said it best when he said "Extremes to the right and to the left of any political dispute are always wrong." Amen to that. Sadly, there seems to be no middle ground today. It's so detrimental to our nation.

Of interest...Ted Sorensen, who was John F. Kennedy's speech writer, actually wrote most of Kennedy's "Profiles In Courage" and both he and JFK acknowledged that was true. Just a note of interest.

Oh yes, the weren't nearly as bad back then, though I think I would've still voted Republican. 😄

There's a very interesting tombstone from 1890, for one Nathaniel Grigsby, that says, "Through this inscription I wish to enter my dying protest against what is called the Democratic party. I have watched it closely since the days of Jackson and know that all the misfortunes of our nation has come to it through this so called party. Therefore beware of this party of treason."

I think that pretty much sums it up! 😂

Great tombstone inscription and it does sum up this "party of treason" exactly. It's frightening, especially because there will be no balance of power, with the President, the House, and the Senate being controlled by liberal Democrats. I'm quite worried, because there are so many radicals and extremists coming to power. There will be no middle ground.😕 It reminds me of my favorite book and movie..."a civilization Gone With The Wind." That's what I forsee, in any case.

Pamela | 2209 comments Don't feel bad. Lately there are many, many things that I don't get. I like to blame it on stress related memory loss! Unfortunately, my medical records clearly state that I suffer short term memory loss due to my failing health. It gets frustrating. There ARE times when claiming "memory loss" is beneficial, though! Like Schultz in Hogan's Heroes..."I know nothing!" LOL!!!😆🤣😂😉😊

Twain helped Grant to write his memoirs just before Grant died of cancer. Twain refused royalties for his work so that Grant's wife, Julia, would not be left in poverty when Grant died. In fact, because of Twain's refusal of royalties, after Grant died, Julia became the wealthiest woman in the United States at the time. The memoirs were an instant bestseller. Meanwhile, Twain struggled financially the rest of his life. One of the reasons I have always respected Twain. The love story of Ulysses Grant and Julia Grant is quite touching.💕💕💕
