“Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.”
Watson replied, “I see millions and millions of stars.”
“What does that tell you?” Watson pondered for a minute.
“Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?”
Holmes was silent for a minute, then spoke. “Watson, someone has stolen our tent!”

Ohh I've heard that one before and I love it!!! It's sooooo funny!!! 🤣🤣🤣

😄

😄- Hahahaha!

I love this joke, Hannah!! Here it's Sherlock Holmes so you're expecting some deep, thought out answer but nope! It's just that the tent is stolen!!😂😂

There was a pecan tree in the grave yard and two young boys went to get the pecans. They sat under the tree and divided them saying "one for you, one for me, one for you, one for me". Occasionally a nut would fall down the hill to the fence but they left them to get later. Meanwhile, another boy was walking by the graveyard fence and heard voices within. He ran to the nearest person, an old man hobbling on a cane, and said, "I heard Jesus and Satan dividing the dead, come see!" The old man said "Can't you go and bother somebody else with your wild tale?" But the boy persisted and finally the old man relented. The pair made their way to the fence and, sure enough, heard "one for you, one for me, one for you, one for me. Okay, that's all, now let's go get those nuts down by the fence." It was said that the old man ran faster than the boy as they hurried away.
Sorry, I probably messed the whole joke up with not being able to fully remember! Emma's probably cringing!!XD

Pray, give the answer now, so that I can ascertain 100% that Ruth, Emma and I are correct in the belief that it was Mark Twain.

Well, I shall sign off too.
Bon Nuit.

And the answer is P.T. Barnum!
Not only was he "The Greatest Showman" but he was also a prolific author starting first with his own newspaper called The Herald of Freedom (which ironically Thoreau wrote an essay with the same title). He also wrote several autobiographies including:
The Life of P.T. Barnum
The Art of Money Getting: Golden Rules for Making Money
The Humbugs of the World: An Account of Humbugs, Delusions, Impositions, Quackeries, Deceits and Deceivers Generally, in All Ages
Struggles and Triumphs: or, Forty Years' Recollections of P.T. Barnum
among others.

I make them from scratch. They're my favorite thing to make!! My sister and I like to eat homemade warm scones, drink coffee or tea, and watch this TV show, (we don't have satellite, we just watch it through Amazon Prime or YouTube) called Escape to the Country. It's about people finding homes in England. It's so neat to see how different the houses and lifestyles are there!!

That's so cool Ruth!! I drink that kind of tea sometimes, so now I'll have to go make a cup and read Pride and Prejudice. 😅😉❤️☕+📘=😌

Oh Emma, that sounds lovely!! Do you have a favorite recipe?
That sounds like a fun show! We enjoy something similar called House Hunters International - where people are house hunting in all sorts of different countries!
There are so many subscription services that sound fantastic! Have you ever heard of Brit Box? A subscription service of all British tv and drama!!! That's on my "someday I'll get that" list.
Good thing Meg's not here. She'll have a fit with us talking about British teas and shows on her New England group. Maybe we should bribe Dorry not to tell her?
