Intersting trivia regarding Sarah Orne Jewett: She was very close friends with Annie Adams Fields and her husband James Thomas Fields, the editor of Atlantic Monthly magazine. After James died suddenly, Sarah and Annie lived together until Sarah's death. Sarah Orne Jewett was badly injured in a carriage accident and never wrote again. She later died of a stroke.
