"Well, wonderful!" Exclaimed Perry Sue. "Would you like to go to the zoo?"

"Excellent!" Squeals Perry Sue. "Though I just remembered - don't you have the flu??"

"Excellent!" Squeals Perry Sue. "Though I just remembered - don't you have the flu??""
"Not anymore," says Fizzy Lou, "I got rid of that with a stew."

"Excellent!" Squeals Perry Sue. "Though I just remembered - don't you have the flu??""
"Not anymore," says Fizzy Lou,..."
"Ooh, stew?!" Perry Sue exclaimed. "Did you bring some with you?"

"No, " returned Perry Sue. "But I fear I might be a little blue..."

"Why, of course not!" Retorted Perry Sue. "I just now told you!"

"Why, never, dear Fizzy Lou!!" It's just...I've yet again went and lost my glue!!"

"Oh, I see! I just don't see how that would work, Fizzy Lou!"

"Oh. Well so much for going to the zoo!""
"Some other day, dear Perry Sue!"

This Massachusetts author was a college professor, scholar, and a social activist. Although the author published many books, they are best remembered for writing a poem, later set to music, which has become a National Treasure.
Name the author and their famous poem.

"Oh. Well so much for going to the zoo!""
"Some other day, dear Perry Sue!""
"Yes, and I'll be prepared with my clue!"

"One day some of the other teachers and I decided to go on a trip to 14,000-foot Pikes Peak. We hired a prairie wagon. Near the top we had to leave the wagon and go the rest of the way on mules. I was very tired. But when I saw the view, I felt great joy. All the wonder of America seemed displayed there, with the sea-like expanse.”
A direct quote from the author in question, about the poem they wrote after being inspired by the view above. The poem was eventually set to music. Americans have been singing about that view ever since.
Does that help???
