Joanna Ok here we go...
How much time minimum did Thoreau spend walking in the fields and woods each day?

I think I know this one. Don Henley, one of my favorite musicians, is very much involved in The Walden Woods Project and The Thoreau Institute and I read about Thoreau's walks on that website quite some time ago. I'm going to say Thoreau said he spent at least 4 hours walking in the woods each day.

Well, that's what I get for sleeping in this morning! 🤣 You are correct, Pammy Jo! In his essay on Walking, Thoreau says, "I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits, unless I spend four hours a day at least - and it is commonly more than that - sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements."

Yeah you've got to get up pretty early in the morning to stump Pammy Jo! 😂"

I don't know about stumping me, but you have to get up very early to beat me waking up. I am usually awake by 3:30 a.m. every morning! LOL!!!😴🔊😳😀

Wow! 😂 I could probably do that in the summer, if I went to bed earlier. I'm normally up at about 5:40.

See, my longterm memory is pretty good. I'm sure it's been about 20 years since I saw that and I still remember it. Don't ask me what I had for breakfast this morning, though...I can't remember that! 🤣😂

Pamela | 2209 comments Here's the next quiz question:

Name the New England author whose aunt slept in a coffin shaped bed and regularly wore death-shrouds as outfits.

Emma | meadowroselibrary Wow, you're on it! 😂

Really, I'm just getting tired and thought I would post my question before I fall asleep. Everybody will have time to think about it overnight, if anyone is able to sleep after thinking about such a creepy question!😱💀👻🧛‍♀️⚰😳

Pamela | 2209 comments The Early Bird is awake (I do not want the worm)!😝

So far, nobody has guessed correctly. A hint...the aunt helped to raise the author and their siblings after the author's father died. Maybe that will help?

Pammy Jo

message 8771: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 2209 comments I will be in and out again today. They are "supposed" to do the paving work in the driveway today. It is raining here, so who knows?

Think, Meg.🤔 Ponder, reflect, deliberate, contemplate and ruminate! 🤔😏😂🤣😆😁😊🤗
Pammy Jo

message 8774: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 2209 comments Another hint: The author considered their aunt to be "a blessing which nothing else in education could supply". The aunt's vast number of letters and journals became one of the author's "most important books".

Lily Rose Dorothea | 1454 comments Yippee! I'm going to have to look her up! I had never heard of that. But from that question, she definitely sounded a bit...odd.

It seems so! I guess there must have been other and better characteristics that outweighed those, in his eyes.
