I think Dorothy should ask the next question. I'll be in and out most of the day, so would like Dorothy to think of the next question. My cat, Sarah is sick and I have to deal with that. She has an abcessed anal gland and the vet can't see her until Thursday! I'm worried and am going to try to treat it naturally until the appointment.βΉ

That's horrible! Vets are getting to be about useless, now. The vet in our town has been getting worse and worse, and now they can't fit vaccine visits in until after Christmas?! One lady said she couldn't get her dog in for a nail trim for over a month. Their cancellation list is now only for emergencies...they're useless! We switched vets.
I will try to think of a question, then. (I can already see Meg running! πββοΈπ¨ π€£

I have been very disappointed in our veterinary clinic for several months. We always thought highly of them until recently. There are more than a dozen domestic pet vets at the clinic, and they also have about that many vets at their farm animal clinic, attached to the small pet clinic. They are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and used to be great. Now, we can't get prompt appointments during regular hours...they say we should bring our pets in as emergency visits. First of all, we sit and wait for hours then the emergency visit cost is $160.00 just to go through the door, then a charge for the visit, exam, meds, etc.! Since Covid restrictions, we can't even go in with our cats. We call from the parking lot on our cell phone, wait for a vet tech to come out to take the cat, then we sit in the car and we wait for the vet to call us on the cell phone in the parking lot to discuss what's wrong, and finally they bring our cat back out to us. We are not permitted to go into the building. It upsets me, as I want to be with my cat during the exam and talk to the vet in person. I am very upset about it. It's always something lately.π₯

That's the way it is with most vets here, too. And we only have a few. It's not easy to find a good vet, or doctor, these days! The vet we're going to try switching to, I'm pretty sure, has all male doctors, which I'm a little concerned about with Twilight, because she seems to be a little skittish meeting men. Hopefully by the time she needs to go in (next year for Rabies, hopefully!) they will be done with the curbside thing.

This will probably be too easy for Pammy Jo, but here it is...

I think Mark Twain wrote it, (and he's talking about Harriet Beecher Stowe) to Herman Melville.

I'm not, but mostly I'm worried about my cat, Sarah because of her anal gland problem...and because the veterinary clinic does not have an appointment until Thursday night.π

Oh Dorothy, that is worrisome. We have public water in my town, but I know people who have wells, and they worry about them running dry.ππ§

How so? I would like to know."
I'll get back to you on that. π

It's a pie/cake combination, really. You make a pie crust (bottom only) then you put in a white cake batter, then on top of the batter, you put on a layer of a dark chocolate gooey batter. When you bake it, all of the fudge sinks to the bottom and the cake bakes on top...that's why they call it a "Funny Cake Kerfuffle"....and it is SOOOO GOOD! Pennsylvania Dutch food is my favorite! I have lots of great Amish and Mennonite Cookbooks. Quite a few of my friends are Mennonite and there is a very interesting Mennonite Heritage Center not far from where I live.

We have a slight chance of rain in the forecast, but not enough to do anything. We're concerned about the ground freezing before we get enough rain, then we've got the winter with no water...sure, there's snow, but that doesn't help cleaning up dog messes, which we have plenty of with the boarders.
