And what is wrong with Jane Asten? I think I'm going to look into Elizabeth Goudge. Which book would be best for me to read first??
Maybe I'll order it from a bookseller in New England...then I might keep myself out of trouble for discussing English Literature! LOL!

I sincerely recommend The Dean's Watch. It's the first I read, and I read it 4 times! I'm now reading The Rosemary Tree, and thoroughly enjoying it!

I agree with Dorry, Pamela, The Dean's Watch would be a good one to start out with, though The Rosemary Tree is amazing!!!

Emma | meadowroselibrary Also, Pamela, you may have missed it, but I sent you an invitation to Dorry's Elizabeth Goudge group awhile back. So you can read more about her there and what her writing's like.

Lily Rose Dorothea | 1454 comments I'm so sorry! I just realized I was supposed to post the next quiz question. Well, fortunately I have one I really want to ask!

Which New England author said this?
"No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader."

Obviously you do not know me. Or you would know that I would never, under any circumstances, wait for Meg for anything.

Haha! No, we've missed you too much to be sorry for so petty a reason! It seems Emma doesn't know the answer. She guessed Mark Twain. I think Allyson is rubbing off on her. Does Allyson want to guess? Anyone?

Emma | meadowroselibrary Sorry Meg!! 🤣

Pamela | 2209 comments Emma wrote: "Did you ever look into Elizabeth Goudge's books, Pammy?"

Yes I did. I discovered that The Dean's Watch is part of The Cathedral Trilogy. I looked for it online and the books are expensive, so I'm going to ask at my local library. I don't know anything about Elizabeth Goudge, but the reviews for her books are all very good!

Pamela | 2209 comments Yes, it's part of "The Cathedral Trilogy" and the other two books are "A City of Bells" and "Towers In The Mist." I discovered that when I was searching online for "The Dean's Watch."
