I don't know about The Scarlet Letter...The House of the Seven Gables was partly inspired by his ancestors. But nope, it's not Hawthorne. 😋

HURRAY!!! We have a winner!! Yes, it is Longfellow. He was a descendant of John and Priscilla (Mullins) Alden and immortalized them in his poem 'The Courtship of Miles Standish'.
