I really want to find this book series again, as I only read until the 1st or 2nd book series (If I recall correctly there were at least 3 books).

The MC is a teen/kid who is brought to this monastery where he is to be trained to be a warrior/assassin. I think there are only males on the monastery. The monastery make a living basically by being a deterrent to their "clients", who pay them to use a special symbol on their bodies so that ppl who see it knows they are under protection from the monastery, and that if they kill someone being protected by the monastery, many well trained monks are going after their lives. MC kid is training under this monk (his master) who is middle-aged/old and has dark skin.

MC first mission is some noble who killed one of the clients of the monastery. As this guy is a high-level noble (maybe a prince), he has many guards, and the first monks that were sent to kill him failed. MC is sent along with his master and another senior monk who dont get along with MC's master and his apprentice, so they can finish this mission.

After a lot of struggle, they managed to kill their target, but the MC is caught and put in some sort of arena where the targets' mother (the queen) wants to lure the other monks and catch them. MC's master sees the situation, and so that he can give a painless way out to his apprentice, shoots his apprentice with a crossbow, and then the monks leaves.

Thats where the last book i read ended. The MC is dead and his master takes it really hard.

I think the old monk becomes the new MC on the other books, which is very cool, and makes me want to read it even more haha
